Magnetic Poetry Saturday

there will always be
evil in this world
but there is more
to offset almost
every sinister force
and love…that too

to follow after or
wander alone…which
way is the path
to peace in a world
rooted in stone

time is eternity’s prisoner
we are born only
to grow old and die
remembered only
by lingering sadness

chocolate can be bitter
barely a day goes
by that I don’t
crave its sweetness
on my tongue

Off Limits

The closet in my parents’ room was off limits.

My little sister and I decided to sneak a peak while they were outside. To our surprise, the closet was full of toys!

Of course we never let on. We’d heard children who stopped believing in Santa didn’t get toys on Christmas morning.

harvest ode

mirror mirror in the sky
truth’s reflection burning bright
stars align, emotions swell
some find comfort, others, hell

ours is not to run and hide
mirror mirror in the sky
call forth authenticity
shed the dross to set us free

mend our cold uncaring hearts
light our path when days grow dark
mirror mirror in the sky
tame our tongues when curses fly

heal our broken disconnects
all’s not lost; oh no, not yet
there’s still time to set things right
mirror mirror in the sky

Fall ~ Haiku

fading leaves drift, falling
