Creep Race

privilege creeps in
to thwart have nots from having
one must rig the race

lullaby

lullaby

when the night is still,
amber lit, from horsehair walls
memories whisper
century-old tales slip through
the parting of the veil

spirits of another world
charm us on this dreamy night
tiny winged angel girls and boys
that look like heroes, fascinate.
each is hoping you’ll believe
they are someone otherly
asking, hand out, all in fun
that you’ll find it in your heart
to fill them up with sweets

Haiku Trickery

it can be tricky
pranksters love tomfoolery

For Haiku Horizon’s Challenge, prompt word: Trick.

black moon rising – magnetized

black moon rising

season of the in-between
frosted blossoms withering
trees of verdant green
now softly browning
squirrels root for seed
to winter on
come dark moon, the nights
grow longer
gently rock this world
rest our souls
in deepest peace…
