state of a broken nation
fifty
years from now
may we celebrate
the tricentennial and
may the recklessness of this generation
be remembered to have marked a turning point when the people
woke up
saw the truth
owned up to past sins
and decided to pursue
creating a nation where all are free,
enjoying the promise of liberty and
justice…
we have not
yet reached this lofty
goal given to us by men
we’ve often drifted far from that perfection
that they envisioned centuries ago when they penned
those words
the roadmap
to unite these states…
we remain a fractured fail,
an experiment, their grand hypothesis
“all ‘men’ are created equal”…wish it had said ‘all people’ because words
matter…
fifty years
from this day may we
have something to celebrate
a nation united in truth and justice,
compassion, equality, freedom for all people
today
let us hope
we can do better
and may our children know that
we tried

the state of our nations capital says it all…

My glimmer for today…hope.

Much love, peace, and glimmers of hope to you.
