thoughts before a looming US election

let go what no longer serves you my dears
maliciousness, otherness, greed, hate, fear
let love, understanding, benevolence reign
may reconciled differences heal every pain
it’s time for the circus to pack and move on
with its fire-breathing jugglers, jokers, and clowns
they’re all an illusion, we see it quite clearly 
and they almost had us, thank goodness, just nearly,
let’s take our cue from the trees and release
It’s time we all entered a season of peace
where the haves and have nots may equally share
and there are no others, where justice is fair
we all have the power to do what is right
to drive out the darkness and welcome the light
so join me, my dear ones, let go and be free
claim the promise, the birthright of humanity
