Some retirement! After 40 years, all he got was a gold watch and a “good luck.” But he felt useful and it was better than bagging groceries.

Just Desserts

PHOTO PROMPT © ROGER BUTOLT

“What’ll it be ladies?” Joe asked.

“Dessert!” Sue smiled.

“Something sweet! But not too sweet.” Julie sighed.

“Come on Julie,” Debra chided, “go for it! We’re celebrating!”

“Oh yeah? Whatcha celebratin’?” Joe asked as he displayed his sweetest pies to three sets of wide eyes.

Sue declared proudly, “Well, we have lost a total of 100 pounds between us!”

“Wow! I’m guessing you want whipped cream on top?”

Julie giggled, “Yes sir!”

Joe winked, “Coming right up!”

From a table nearby a child whined, “Mama, why can’t I have just desserts?”

The diner’s patrons burst into laughter and applause.

Arch-Trees

Arch-Trees
Ancient dragon clans,
nested they, in great arch-trees.
Travelers beware!

For TJ’s Household Haiku, photo/word prompt. the words are Arch & Tree. In researching the words I discovered that mythical legends tell tales of dragons nested in the arch-trees, their dense limbs brushing the underside of heaven. So to illustrate, I added our friends to TJ’s awesome photograph for my haiku.

Drem Yol Lok (“peace fire sky” in Dragon speak. It means, “Greetings” and an acknowledgement of territory and temporary withholding of agression). You might want to familiarize yourself with that phrase should you find yourself in the presence of a dragon in the arch-trees! 🙂

Here’s TJ’s original photo for the prompt:

(140 Characters)

Thank you to everyone who gave the Magic 8 Ball a flip, and tried their hand at a reverse query. It seems that for many of us the Magic 8 Ball is a great substitute for a daisy. A good thing too…poor daisies who have their petals plucked for the sake of our lovelorn hearts. I can’t believe we are at 30 Twittering Tales today! You all a quite a creative bunch. As usual, I found this gem of a photograph at pixabay.com. The minute I saw it, I fell in love with it. The photographer calls this photo, “Calm”. Um…Okay. So what do you think? Is the glass half empty or half full and why in the world is it leaning? Or is it? Have fun! I’ll see you next week at the round-up!

Another great Round-Up y’all! I loved that some of you went to the dark side, while others took a more inspirational take on the photo. Thanks again for joining the challenge! This week I’m using one of my own photos. I have a Magic 8 Ball on my desk at work. Sometimes I like to flip it over without asking it a question first. (I also like to color outside the lines…) And once I get my “answer” I try to think of the question that the 8 Ball might be answering. Ok…yes I’m weird. So anyhoo, here are two pics I took of my mystical Magic 8 Ball. (Did you know there are 20 possible answers hidden in the dark window of a Magic 8 Ball? Now you do!) Your challenge this week…What’s the question? Or…the story that led to the question. You have 4 choices. Write a tale for one or all four. And of course, Have FUN! (and don’t forget to post your link in the comments so I can find you for next week’s round-up.)
