’twas Enlightenment’s fake news
falsehoods fade slowly
sinful indulgence
with buttercream icing, sliced
cakes of devil’s food

He thought he was dealing with a full deck of 52, but she’d slipped several cards out; her sleight of hand, stacking her odds favorably.
Pretending to be impressed with his strip shuffle, she demurely tapped the deck at the cut. After luring him all in, she revealed aces for the pot.
