Autumn Leaves

pressed impressions of
folioles  and rose petals
between leather-bound
leaves of pulpy cellulose,
harvested fronds from the fall

fading memories
once fragrant, verdant, now parched
crumbling  to dust

A Tanka/Senryu combination poem for Colleen’s Poetry Tuesday Challenge, this week’s prompt words and their synonyms are: Autumn: fall; harvest, and Leaves: fronds; folioles.

Beautiful Death

‘…stars, grown old

In dancing silver-sandalled on the sea,

Sing in their high and lonely melody.’ -W.B.Yeats

cool nor-eastern zephyr whispers
evening vespers
autumn drifting
seasons shifting

leaves of yellow, orange and red
settle in beds
windswept and tossed
wilted by frost

learning the art of letting go
the ebb and flow
arrested breath
beautiful death

Magnetic Poetry Monday

it’s raining…clouds
deep, dark, wet
between stone
and sky
breath of life, thick,
sweet, moist air,
beautiful wild blossoms
withering, leave traces
of eden on the breeze

Magnetic Poetry – Nature Kit

Magnetic Poetry Saturday

grass long
and tall
dances in the
delicious breeze
breath of god
softly flowing

the red breast trudges
through the garden
beneath the blue, but
the worms are
hiding…it’s
too cool
in purple

always fight for what
is good and remember,
but for your light
some never come to
hope, only seeing the
dark night of the soul

beneath every garden
roots and seeds
winter in the
darkness…
a time to rest and
a time to blossom
