Kindness

What are you passionate about?

Kindness
Is
Not
Defeat.
Never
Escalate…
Smile
Softheartedly

My simple acrostic poem in answer to today’s daily WP prompt…my answer…kindness. I am dipping my toe back into the inkwell. I know it’s been a while. Suffice to say that planning and pulling off a surprise milestone party that you needed to know about because your lovely partner who planned the whole thing is wheelchair bound and generally unable to pull the final prep off without assistance, is exhausting! I said it a decade or so ago…getting old is not for sissies! I had NO clue back then…add to that the added stress of keeping the ruse and acting surprised…and the biggest part…the reality…the gravity of realizing that people my age are dropping like flies and the fact that I’m still here must mean something. Well I’ve spent long enough staring at my naval and I plan to get back on the saddle…though it takes a few tries and a stepladder these days. The muse has graciously let me recharge, and soak in every glimmer and wonder. I’ve saved them to share with you all. I do hope you’re doing well. It’s hard not to freak out at the state of the world ala a rapidly imploding trump. But there is encouragement to be found as the sleepy lemmings begin waking up from their stupor.

Be kind to yourself and to others my friends, and most importantly look for the daily glimmers to sustain you!

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you. Here’s mine for today. I have started noticing sunrises these days…new beginnings seems to be the theme. 🥰

off prompt

Started my day waking up to this beautiful sky, tree tops, a hint of green, popping with buds, spring on the cusp. I fully intended to write a fancy poem about it…

Morning in the Blue Hills ~kat 2022

…and then events of the day took over…and we had to say goodbye to another beloved pet, our Winston…Winnie Pooh …best boy ever. 8 years is not long enough…even in dog years. 😢 Rest in peace buddy. Go find Maxwell and Casey-cat who crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this year. They’ll show you the ropes. 🥰

Sunrise Sunset – Photo Challenge

For the Daily Post’s Photo Challenge this week, a few photos of sunrise and sunset from my corner of the world. While I rise every day before dawn, I am rarely outside to capture the sunrise. The best I can do is this spectacular view on my drive to work and the view through my windshield (captured on my iPhone).

Working dawn to dusk certainly has its perks when it comes to the ambience of the fiery sky at sunset. Especially in Winter, I am often blown away by the beauty that greets me when I head for my car after work. On this particular December day, several of us were stopped in our tracks by a sunset that lit the sky red in various hues over the course of a few minutes. Fortunately, I had my iPhone on me and captured a few shots. You don’t see a sky like this every day.

and just a few minutes later as the sun faded over the mountains…this…

It occurs to me that sunrises and sunsets are only spectacular through the prism of clouds. There’s a message in that thought somewhere. I’m going to think on that for a while. 🙂

Echoes of my Neighborhood

Happy Thursday! Next to trees, I love clouds. White clouds, storm clouds, sunrise, sunset…and the sun shining through them is spectacular. They stir my imagination. They inspire me.

Today is a gray, overcast sort of day, so I pulled out some of my favorite sunshiny, blue sky cloud photos (I had so many it was hard to choose!) And I would like to share them with you. Hope these little snap shots of the sky above my head is an inspiration to you wherever you are. 🙂

This post is in response to Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha at acookingpotandtwistedtales.com. If you would like to see other “neighborhoods” from around the globe, click HERE.

I call this little montage, Cloud 9 🙂

Fire and Ice

Fire and ice collide at dawn
‘Midst brittle webs of ebon lace
Nipped by blustery gusts of wind
First to behold sun’s golden face.

As Luna trips horizon’s edge
Fire and ice collide at dawn
Passage of celestial orbs
The moon and stars in denouement.

Crows cackaw and squirrels chortle,
Songbird twitterings greet the sight
Fire and ice collide at dawn
To bid adieu to black of night.

Dew drop diamond sparkles chatter
Earth is awash in morning song
Rousing all the sleepy dreamers
Fire and ice collide at dawn.
