Sevenling: there’s a storm

there’s a storm

there’s a storm coming
dark gray clouds hovering low
steam rising from the pavement

after the storm passes
everything is greener, lush
the air smells of drenched flowers

from trepidation to euphoric elation

Today’s glimmer caught my eye as I was walking under the great oak tree near my driveway. Just a random pile of rocks in the dirt, except it did not look random. I admit looking over my shoulder briefly to see if the woodland faeries were watching me. “Someone” had organized these rocks quite artistically. I suppose if I were being pragmatic, I might believe that all the rain we’ve been having, simply shifted the wet dirt rearranging the rocks. But to the romantic me who believes in other worldly, magical happenings, this is proof positive that I was visited by the local faerie folk. That what I choose to believe. A little magical thinking feels right these days. Especially when I consider that international Faerie Day was just a few days ago! ✨🧚🏻‍♂️✨

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you…magical glimmers.

Proof that faeries exist? I ll let you decide for yourselves. But as for me…I’m a true believer! ✨✨🧚🏻‍♂️💚🧚🏻‍♂️✨✨

Sevenling: not yet

Sevenling: not yet

“not yet…now is not the right time…”
she said, “when I’m ready,
then I’ll think about it,”

but ready never happened
life happened, life kept happening
the dreams of her youth faded

she barely noticed when glimmers of what might have been passed by

And on that note…here are a few glimmers…

Everything is in bloom! Decided to zoom in for a look. Nature is magnificent!

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

Sevenling: I have survived

This beauty has decided that this is her spot to hang out in the mornings and then later in the afternoon. It’s become a common practice. Traci says she is waiting for me to come outside. She listens intently when I greet her. What do you think I should name her? I think our relationship has progressed to the naming level. 🥰 and this, in case you’re wondering, is today’s glimmer!

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you! ~kat

And, of course, a poem. A Sevenling to be precise. I took the latest WP cue to look back at previous posts and happened upon the Sevenling. I believe I spent an entire month on this form. Not sure why I stopped. I kind of love this form.

As a refresher:

The elements of the Sevenling are:

1. a heptastich, a poem in 7 lines made up of 2 tercets followed by a single line. metered at the discretion of the poet.

2. unrhymed.

3. composed with 3 complimentary images in the first tercet and 3 parallel images in the second tercet. The end line is a juxtaposed summary of the 2 parallels, a sort of “punchline”.

4. the poem should be titled “Sevenling: (first few words of poem).

I had to chuckle at myself a bit. I took step number 4 literally back then. But I do t think the parentheses are needed in the title. Going forward I will be dropping these! 😄

Anyhow, here’s my take. I might stay here a while…as I mentioned, I am very fond of this form!

Sevenling: I have survived

I have survived
generational insanity,
abusive spouses, broken relationships

I have survived
wars, pandemics, civil unrest,
the age of Aquarius

survival is not to the fittest, but to the optimists, stubbornly hopeful

sevenling (empire)

sevenling (empire)

how pitiful to watch soulless politicians
clamor for power, grovel
for endorsements, beg for votes

we the people left wanting it would seem
for compassion, liberty, justice
trading trust for lies, vote by vote

was it barbarians at the gate caused Rome to fall, or complicity?

sevenling (the dawn)

sevenling (the dawn)

Eos rises, cloak of saffron, glowing
roses blush beneath the mist from her wet kisses
her fiery passion breaks the darkest dark of night

i rise warmed by the glow of this new day
oblivious to this celestial passion play
grateful for the tomorrow promised yesterday

there's something in the air, conjuring the dawn in afterglow
