day 261

What’s your favorite word?

Serendipity

A simply perfect sunset.
Shooting Stars…
Each
Radiant stream
Ebbs
Disintegrating
Into stardust, beautiful in death
Passing
Into oblivion
Temporarily
Dazzling
Yielding

~kat

You need to be in the right place at the precise right time to catch a glimpse of the final moments of distant ancient stars. Seeing a shooting star is serendipitous…my favorite word in response to this WordPress prompt. I love the sound of the word almost as much as I love its meaning.

Serendipity is the phenomenon of making fortunate and unexpected discoveries by chance, rather than by planning or searching for them. It’s the experience of finding something pleasant or valuable when you weren’t even looking for it, like a happy accident or a lucky coincidence. (AI definition)

Much love, peace, and serendipitous glimmers to you…

Here are a few of those serendipitous moments from today…

day 192 – ReVerse Sunday, 13 July 2025

ReVerse Sunday, 13 July 2025

there is a whisper of light
survival is life
just a glimmer…

ignorance,
I won’t confuse you
is hard to believe
would they care?
lunacy ensues

sunlight shimmering through trees
when it’s our time we’ll fight to stay

~kat

I love today’s ReVerse poem! It perfectly encapsulates the past week that vividly reminded me how fragile and temporary this little life of ours is. So many incidents of loss in the midst of indescribable beauty and resilience was the theme of the week. The highs and the lows. The rollercoaster that is life where we are often holding on for dear life, trying not to lose our hats or our heads as the wind (and water) sweeps through us. Moments of quiet, of peace, of life going on, with barely enough time to look back, reminding me that the past and not even my assumptions about the future are as important as the present moment. The right here, right now, and the urgency of needing to breathe deeply as this moment settles my soul.

That was last week. Before I wish you well in the coming week, I invite you to pause with me for a moment. Take a deep breath…settle into your skin and feel your heart filling…and exhale slowly. The coming week is inevitable, but this moment is everything.

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you.

Today’s glimmer…a photo of an African Violet plant I adopted yesterday. A bit of water and feeding and it has nearly doubled in size overnight. Isn’t it amazing what a little loving tenderness and care can do! ✨💚✨

A ReVerse poem (a practice I started many years ago) is a summary poem with a single line lifted from each entry of a collection of work over a particular timeframe and re-penned in chronological order as a new poem. Unlike a collaborative poem, the ReVerse features the words of one writer, providing a glimpse into their thoughts over time. I use it here as a review of the past week.

day 126

Soup

I would, if I could,
eat soup everyday
especially now when uncertainty
has my stomach twisted, tied in knots
it’s comfort food, yes soup will do,
it’s my go to, when I am blue,
a simple broth, potatoes,
beans, rice or noodles,
something green, spinach, kale
seasoned well, hot steaming,
slurpilicious, can you tell, that soup
will do when I’m distressed,
better than my first instinct,
clearly under great duress,
to grab for something salty, sweet,
too much of a good thing until
I’m stuffed, uncomfortable, just ill
I should have had some soup instead
but worry makes me lose my head
and so I cook a lot these days,
soup, of course, for times like these

much love, peace, and glimmers to you.

day 124

Day 124…remembering to breathe
there’s always tomorrow

look to tomorrow
for new possibilities
when today feels lost

~kat

Today was one of those days that did not go as planned. We never saw the plot twist coming. As disappointing as it was and still is, as we try to make sense of things while adjusting our future plans, I’m reminded that expectations rarely guarantee success or satisfaction. In fact, hanging one’s hope on expectations is a vicarious way to move through life. It’s a recipe for disappointment. There are no guarantees in this life, and generally, there is no straight path from “A” to “B”.

But occasionally there are glimmers of

hope to be found on the detours. Sometimes we may find ourselves in a better place without exerting him. It it wise to practice flexibility and open to the possibilities that plot twists can bring.

Go gently my friends and remember, tomorrow is another day!

Much love, peace and glimmers to you!

day 122

beneath the white oak tree

to live in harmony
with nature, let the wind
breathe life into your soul
feel its purity deeply and
rest in the ancient knowing
that you are one
with everything you see

~kat

It was a beautiful spring morning here in my little spot on the planet. The trees have filled out and green in various shades has blossomed into a beautiful canopy. While it is lovely to take it all in, it’s good to be reminded that we are not just spectators but a part of all we see in the natural world. When I consider this fact it makes perfect sense to tread lightly on the planet, to conserve its resources and to take care of the earth just as she takes care of us.

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

Oh…and this guy? He’s my old cousin Tom, several times removed, of course! But family nonetheless…can you see the resemblance?! 🤣
