Lantern Lanturnes

For today’s poetry form I am revisiting the Lanturne. As with other little poetry forms you can’t have just one. Several is always a good number. 😉

-1-

Fog
lingers
but cannot
survive the sun’s
burn

-2-

Dew
settles
on roses
nectar of the
gods

-3-

truth
doesn’t
matter if
lies are given
sway

-4-

eyes
cannot
be windows
if they are slammed
shut

-5-

ears
that won’t
hear the truth
might as well be
deaf

-6-

joy
will be
elusive
to those who’ve lost
hope

-7-

you
unique
breathtaking
magnificent
you

Insomniacs and Fools

Luna by kat 2017

1-
it’s early morning drenched in dew
the witching hour won’t let me sleep
i’m an insomniac, it’s true
it’s early morning drenched in dew,
roused by the whispers of my muse
who tells me, “no use counting sheep”
it’s early morning drenched in dew,
the witching hour won’t let me sleep

2-
I feel so foolish for crying
It’s not that I’m not strong, you know
Sometimes it’s wise to stop trying
I feel so foolish for crying
Nothing works when someone’s lying
Relationships need trust to grow
I feel so foolish for crying
It’s not that I’m not strong, you know

Daily Grind – A Silly Tanka

Silly Tanka (5/7/5/7/7)

Oatmeal, strawberries,
earl grey latte, crushed ice…
my daily grind, but…
I can be spontaneous
oatmeal, no strawberries…see?!

the heat was rising
the defendant was sweating
the verdict…guilty

smooth damp skin
