it’s not love
you say you love
cheesecake,
strawberries and
oh my gawd…chocolate,
chocolate anything,
you say, is TO DIE FOR…
um..okay
puppies, kittens,
baby giggles…weeping
willow trees, dogwoods,
the ocean, salty air,
smell of newborns,
right up there with
puppy breath, roses,
honeysuckle, lavender,
lilacs, wisteria…(sigh)
the smell of fresh cut
grass..green peppers and
onions frying, bread baking
you say you love
books, rom-coms, Olympic
curling, football,
wearing the color fuscia,
black, and fuzzy slippers,
how fickle of you to
declare love for
all these things
all at once or only when
the occasional object of
your declared affection
presents itself, faithful or
not, love is just an
overused, four-letter,
meaningless word, these
days, objectified,
unrequited, unreciprocated
love me, love me not…
in the end you’re left
with a petal-less flower

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 15 Prompt: Today, we’d like you to write your own poem that muses on love, but isn’t a traditional love poem in the sense of expressing love between romantic partners.
A Quick Glimmer…some graceful friends spending their afternoon on the edge of the woods. One if them resting in the shade on a hot, sunny day.
Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!!!

I love all the loved things, even if it means I’m fickle, and the glimmers are a great bonus to have at the edge of your yard.

Fabulous photos Kat. We had a sighting of a muntjac doe and her fawn in our road last night. I couldn’t get my camera in time to take a picture, but they were so beautiful.

We are so happy that they feel safe enough to lounge about on our little acre and a half. We live in the midst of hunters all around…rifles and shotguns echoing in the hills.

We’re in town, but there is some open ground where the school used to be, and we have the park, though I think there are more likely to be foxes there. .

Not that we don’t have predators nearby as well. It is chilling to hear coyotes when a group of them have landed a kill. I do regular headcount’s of my little flock… 😳

We have a solid 11 to 13. And a few others that occasionally come by. So far holding at that 13 count. They stay close. 🥰

Good to know.
I saw our first broods of ducklings today, 2, 3, 5 and 7. Hopefully they will survive more than last year’s. We lost so many, and the geese actually ganged up on the crows and gulls to protect the little ones alongside the mallard parents.

Incredible! I sure that was quite a sight!

It was vicious and they showed no mercy. A couple of years ago I witnessed four mallards, all female, attack a gull going after their babies and nearly drowned it.
