day 163

the air

I breathe…
air infused with light
flora refreshed
remnants of creation
lingering, of birds in flight,
deer folk, of forest friends
great and small, honeybees,
of neighbors two doors down
bits of living cells that ride the wind
lung to lung, I inhale the universe in,
exhale myself into the world
we are not so different as some
would like us to believe…
we are one, in harmony
with our mother, Earth
who sustains us
and calls us to love
with every breath

Much love, peace, healing, and glimmers to you!

Glimmers from this morning…snapshots of our big beautiful rubber tree from last year that didn’t make it through this past winter due to a series of unfortunate events.

This spring, from its wasted rootball emerged this lovely offshoot that is thriving.

It is a clear reminder to me that even when all seems lost, hope is not far away. Sometimes it may be just below the surface. But it is there waiting to shine. It’s a call for patience and perseverance. A call to hold fast, to never give up. Let the light within you that is hidden, burst forth and shine.

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

Ancestors

A Haiku for TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge  based on his beautiful photo of Warwick Castle below, and the prompt words, Drift & Air. I have a particular interest in this place as a descendant of William the Conquerer who, it is recorded, built the first incarnation of Warwick Castle, a structure described as a wooden motte and bailey castle, in the year 1068. William is my 35th Great Grandfather. I am descended from his marriage to Maud Athelida de Ingelrica. They had one child, a son, Sir William I “The Elder” De Peverel, Earl of Nottingham (my 34th great) and on and on down through the centuries, here I am. I hope one day to visit Europe to see some of the places my ancestors lived. I might wonder if the landscape that they gazed upon looks much different as I gaze on it today. Thanks TJ for this journey back. ❤️

memories of yore
ancestors framed, suspended
dust on air, drifting

Magnetic Poetry Monday- 24 October 2016

the air apparent

always breathe
deeply
to the root of your
soul, for the air is
ancient and sweet and
it has wandered this
earth on every breeze
and wild wind from
Eden, longing to
know you
