day 186

More creatures enter the scene…

nature’s dark side
is fierce, magnificent perfection where
survival is life

~kat

I was delighted to see a rabbit and her young stop by the feeders this evening.

But not far from the scene a black rat snake slithered out from under a nearby log. He was on a mission making his way across the yard toward the hummingbird station.

I watched him as he watched the hummers flitting for a sip and zipping away. No harm…I thought at first but he was a bit too intense in his glare. When he shifted into a coiled position I decided to intervene by spraying water on him to send him on his way. I discovered just how fast this predator is as he rushed away from me and hid under a propane tank nearby. He’s out there. He’s always been out there. But now I know. I’ll be watching. At the ready to defend, but I also know that he will manage to hit his mark when I am not looking. It’s survival after all. Nothing personal. And I have to admit that he is a beautiful specimen. I watched him for almost an hour, fascinated by his skilled stalking method. I just don’t care to watch him eat.

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you! stay safe out there, be kind, and don’t be afraid to help others.

✨💚✨✨

this is why

this is why

hummingbirds return
to gather
sweet nips of nectar

bare wintered tree limbs
are greening
soon the leaves will pop

ever faithful dawn
rising sun
she quells the dark night

it is possible
anything
if you can dream it

i have all i need
it’s enough
to love and be loved

Na/GloPoWriMo2022 Day 18 Prompt: write your own poem that provides five answers to the same question – without ever specifically identifying the question that is being answered.

For today’s poems a series of Kelly Lunes - three lines each with the syllable pattern: 5-3-5.

NaPoWriMo – Day 1 – Chaos

exquisite chaos
dissonance
bound in symmetry

Catching up on my NaPoWriMo challenge – Day 1. This is no way to start the month, but yesterday was UTTER chaos! I am using the Lune (The Lune is a short form: 5/3/5 – no other rules, may rhyme, any topic) as my form of choice in response to the challenge:
Daily prompt (optional, as always)! Sometimes, writing poetry is a matter of getting outside of your own head, and learning to see the world in a new way. To an extent, you have to “derange” yourself – make the world strange, and see it as a stranger might. To help you do that, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem inspired by this animated version of “Seductive Fantasy” by Sun Ra and his Arkestra. If you don’t feel after watching it a little bit like the top of your head’s been taken off, and your thoughts given a good stir – well, maybe you are already living in a state of heightened poetic awareness!

Daily Lune #30

A final Lune to close out the month of June. I’ve enjoyed this micro-poetry form. Thanks to Jane Dougherty and Willow for joining the daily challenge. 😊

Daily Lune #29

1-
green man beaming
from atop his lush throne
gaia in ecstasy

2-
justice cannot come
soon enough
for the exploited

~kat

Two Lunes today…one a la syllable and the other, word count. I had a bit of photoshop fun with today’s picture. Of course there was not a face in the foliage, but there was definitely a presence of the Green Man himself, I am convinced of it…see if you don’t agree. This is the original photo I took from my vantage point at a pharmacy drive-through…

…can you see him? Or maybe I am still a bit loony from this week’s strawberry full moon! 😉❤️😉
