A final Lune to close out the month of June. I’ve enjoyed this micro-poetry form. Thanks to Jane Dougherty and Willow for joining the daily challenge. 😊

A lovely one to go out on, Kat. Thanks for suggesting the Lune, it was a good idea.

Thank you Jane. I liked that there were two options, word count or syllable by line. I’m glad you joined in. I know how busy you must be! 😊

I wrote a whole string of them before I got into the writing routine so I didn’t have to think about a different one every day. It was a good challenge. Any ideas for July? Short please 🙂

Here’s one…a Gogyohka, (pronounced go-gee-yoh-kuh), created by Enta Kusakabe in Japan. Gogyohka literally translates as “five-line poem” or “song”. It is the latest development of the great Japanese tradition of short verse, but unlike its predecessors Haiku and Tanka, it has no fixed syllable pattern. There are also no conventions governing content and no assumptions about what is considered to be appropriately “poetic” language. Indeed Gogyohka’s accessibility and its power to speak directly to the heart and mind stem from the simplicity of its form, its frequent use of the everyday vernacular and the unwritten rule that almost any subject matter is game. Im thinking of it as a free form stream of consciousness.😊 What do you think? Here’s a more detailed description that I found…
1. The form is made up of five lines.
2. The content should strive to “capture an idea, observation, feeling, memory, or experience.”
3. The lines should not be long and rambling, but rather aim for shortness and succinctness. The length of the line should be determined by the natural pauses of breath rhythms.

Looking at the examples I don’t really get it. They read like a single phrase broken up randomly into five lines. Maybe I’m just tired. I think I need to switch my brain off for a while 🙂

If your still chewing on this, how about a Terza Rima but on the light side using only one stanza, 3 lines, 11 syllables each, rhyme pattern a-b-a. A Terza Rima Lite…😊

I prefer this one actually. The Japanese stuff doesn’t really appeal much. Not to do one every day anyway. I’m going to give this a whirl and keep the chain aspect, so the stanzas follow on from one another.

Loved this one as I have loved them all this month.
If Jane fancys short this month how about Haiku. I fancied acrostic but that might be too time consuming as Jane is busy 💜
