Essence #21

calendars say it’s spring
but today, it’s snowing

~kat

Day 21 for Jane Dougherty’s daily Essence poem challenge…another sign that winter is a rude guest that has no trouble wearing out his welcome. I admit he looks beautiful doing it, but I am so over him!

Passion to Bliss

passion
fire and ice
the edge of lunacy
euphoria raging, white hot
to bliss

~kat

An American Cinquain – 2, 4, 6, 8, and 2 using synonyms only of the prompt words, Joy: bliss, euphoria and Fury: passion, fire, lunacy, rage, for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge.

File Thirteen

for the outcast soul
lost hope and pipe dreams collect
in file thirteen

~kat

For Haiku Horizons’ Challenge, Prompt Word, “File”.

Just Magic

serendipity,
equal parts luck and timing
could be just magic

~kat

For Ronovan Writes Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge. Prompt words: chance (serendipity) and equal. This is a photo I took this morning. Raindrops on pine needles. But as I prepared the artwork I was surprised to see a faerie face looking back at me! Can you see it too? I love when that happens…serendipity…or could be just magic! 🧚🏽‍♀️

Essence #20

just one more minute’s snooze
or rise before dawn cues

~kat

And Essence for Day 20 of Jane Dougherty’s Daily Essence Poem Challenge. My internal clock is still rebelling against the daylight saving time change. This was the view of the window from my pillow when my alarm clock went off at 6 am. The days are not long enough yet. Or maybe I am getting too close to retirement to maintain the grind. Five more years and counting…unless the government decides to raise the retirement age…or take away social security benefits…or both. Until them I am a prisoner of the clock next to my bed and the time clock at the office. 😦 But when I am off the clock…oh…then I write! 🙂
