Are we there yet?
Not yet.

A Six Word Story for this week’s Six Word Story Challenge hosted by Kirst Writes this week, and Wonderwall.

Forlorn
white satin
letters written
beauty missed
with these eyes
what the truth is
I can’t say ‘cause
people can’t
understand
what you want
in the end
breathe deep
the lights fade
people look back
and lament
useless
spent
Lovers, lonely
for love,
cold-hearted,
rule the night
which is an
illusion

A Black Out Poem for Manic Monday’s Three-Way Prompt based on the word “Forlorn”, the photo above and the Moody Blues song, Nights in White Satin (Lyrics below…I love that song!)
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I’d always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can’t say anymore.
Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.
Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I’m going through they can’t understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.
And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I’ve always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can’t say anymore.
Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Breathe deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day’s useless
Energy spent
Impassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young
Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

the fool
poor old chap is down
in the dumps, in a blue funk
with a chip on his
shoulder…once upon a time
he walked on air, flying high

A Tanka for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge using synomyms only of the words Happy & Morose. I found a lovely collection of idioms that were listed as synonyms for these words. Of course I had to use them all! Well, most of them anyhow. What fun this week’s challenge was!
Happy: walking on air, flying high,
Morose: down in the dumps, in a blue funk, chip on the shoulder

innocence ghosting
we skipped the crown
humming
flew away
it was later
that her face
turned pale
she said,
there is no truth
let her be sixteen
eyes open
might just as well’ve
be closed
her face ghostly pale
and so it was

A Black Out Poem for Manic Monday Three-Way Prompt inspired by the word “Ghostly”, the photo above and the song below with black out.
Whiter Shade Of Pale
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, ‘There is no reason’
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well’ve been closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
And so it was that later
