glimmer day 114 – NaGloPoWriMo 25 April 2025

out…today’s glimmer of normal
wordplay

I write metered verse
short, sweet, with a hint of snark
bonus, if it rhymes
what you see is what you get
one day, hope to be a poet

~kat

It’s been a long week…every week seems long and short at the same time…a little chaotic. But today is Friday! TGIF! And for the first time in a long time we went out with some friends for a pint 🍺 and a show. It was good to get out. Next week we have another surgery to look forward too. I’ll likely be hunting for glimmers in the waiting room. Hoping for an uncomplicated outcome. But for now, I’m just grateful for this one evening, in a very long time, of normal.

It rained here this evening so we missed seeing the happy face moon with a little help from Saturn and Venus. I do hope some of you saw it!

Much love, peace, and glimmers of normal to you! ✨✨✨💚💚💚✨✨✨

NaGloPoWriMo 25 April 2025 Prompt:

Yeah, sure, but what are your poems about?
OK… this one is an odd one. But that only makes me love it more. Think about the landscape of your writing/poetry and make a list of what you’re doing or trying to do then turn that list into a poem. / Recommended reading: “Artist Statement” by Tarik Dobbs

glimmer day 111 ~NaGloPoWriMo 22 April 2025

moon faced

her beautiful face
watches us from a distance
her far side hidden
its secret kept for eons
we don’t miss what we don’t know

~kat

Some secrets are better kept…secret. Recently, in 2019, the Chinese National space program landed on the moon’s far side giving us a glimpse of what the moon’s elusive far side looks like. It’s not pretty. Instead it is a dryer, meteor scarred, desolate landscape, totally different from the beautiful benevolent “face” we are so familiar with. I don’t miss that I’ve never seen the far side of the moon. But I would miss not seeing that smiling “face” every night in all of her stages.

Speaking of stages of the moon on April 25th a triple conjunction of Venus, Saturn and the crescent view of the moon will present a smiley face in the sky. I hope the skies are clear wherever you live so you can see this rare event.

much love, peace, and clear sky, smiley face glimmers to you. Something to look forward to is always a good thing in times such as this. ✨✨✨💚💚💚✨✨✨

NaGloPoWriMo 4/22/2025 prompt: Write about what you *don’t* know (or can’t see)
You’ve heard the old advice: Write what you know. But for this writing prompt, let’s explore what you don’t know… or can’t see… or what does not happen after all. Write a poem about something from the lens of its absence. / Recommended reading: “and in the poem we search for the birds” by jason b. crawford and “Good News” by Alison Luterman

NaGloPoWriMo 10 April 2025 – glimmer day 99

These guys are finally settling down. No puffed up feathers…no strutting! I have developed quite an appreciation for the wild Turkey. Magnificent beasts…And today’s glimmer. With so many things happening in the world today. I am so grateful that these Toms came by and reminded me that sometimes it’s okay to relax and hang out with friends. Normal can be a beautiful thing, especially in the midst of chaos.

1-

shaded gray

endless rain, gray skies
is it gray or is it grey?
cold and dreary…it’s grey

~kat

2-

the peace worker’s piece

she was on a roll
an inspiring role
i hear it was here
that she wrote by rote
a piece about ways to peace
nothing new, she knew
but a message we’d forgot
‘twas right to write it

~kat

Today I wrote a couple of poems on topic exploring the homophone…

Homophone Definitionone of two or more words pronounced alike but different in meaning or derivation or spelling (such as the words to, too, and two); or a character or group of characters pronounced the same as another character or group

NaGloPoWriMo 10 April 2025 prompt: Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem that, like Bibbins’, uses alliteration and punning. See if you can’t work in references to at least one word you have trouble spelling, and one that you’ve never quite been able to perfectly remember the meaning of.

Day 66 ~ grace

hubris

i woke up at dawn
so to see the sun rising
as if, just for me
but even when I sleep in
the sun fills the sky with light

~kat

Just sharing a thought that crossed my mind recently in my quest for glimmers. Glimmers are best when they are unexpected, and especially when they touch us, but not because they are presenting themselves to us personally. Such vanity…such hubris! Glimmers do what they do. They are best when we take the time and stop to notice their light and goodness.

The sun rising each day, the way a cool breeze feels on bare skin, the sound of birdsong, the sweet smell of ground-soaked rain…these wonders do not exist for me alone. I am learning as I pause to reflect on these daily glimmers that the gift of gratefulness is a powerful grace that feeds my soul in these moments. I am learning to be less expectant, more present, and more delighted by that grace as I learn to shed my self-centered tendencies as I embrace the world unfolding obliviously around me. Not just for me. But a precious gift that is life for us all!

Peace, love, and simple glimmers to you.

~kat

day 35

a simple question

how are you doing?
four words that are everything
especially
when I don’t have the answer
thank you friend…I’ll let you know

~kat

Honestly, I have no words. I’m sorry world. America has gone mad. But there were glimmers still. A friend sent me the text above late last night. I saw it this morning. It meant a lot when I read it…and even more as this day has progressed.

Today’s message…be a glimmer for someone. Reach out. You never know how a simple hello can change a person’s day.

Peace, Love, and keep on glimmering.
