it’s not flattery

rouses our spirits,
yet we save for eulogies,
lauds the dead will never hear

eyes deep as pools
watching me
moist breath on my face

I almost wrote about the rain…again. Yes, it’s still raining. But Merlin wasn’t having it. Today, as in most days, it is all about him. But I must say, he’s a lovely diversion.
A bit belated…but here it is.

there is no sanctuary
here for the meek,
the pure of heart
wanderers who need
rest…please don’t
come here, we can’t
save you
