Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 11

always…again

close your eyes
you can skip one day if you want
it’s dark out

funny girl, go back to sleep

she pouted, rolled over

made him smile

beautiful, he mused
the woman he had just kissed

Na/GloPoWriMo Day 11 Prompt: Today, we’d like to challenge you to write your own erasure/blackout poem.

…and a glimmer. Much love, peace, and glimmers to us all.

Na/GloPoWriMo Day 10

karma to pay

there is good reason i avoid,
dodge that dreaded question,
“where do you see yourself in five years”
I’ve always known, deep in my bones, dreaming is futile

do you ever wonder about karma?
were we so horrible, we two,
in some distant past life
to have reaped such a high toll in this one?

ignore me, I’m thinking out loud again.
we should really think about…a ramp,
and one of those remote control beds
it might help you, help me, help both of us, get some sleep

Na/GloPoWriMo Day 10 Prompt: Today, write your own meditation on grief. Try using (Geoffrey) Brock’s form as the “container” for your poem: a few short stanzas, with a middle section in which a question is repeated with different answers given.

Your Glimmer for today…look what I found on my morning walk with Gabby. Not sure where it came from or who it belongs to, but isn’t it lovely! Quite the work of art I’d say! And a confirmation that spring is in full swing!

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

bad “hair” day

my stylist complains
the lawn next door is greener
I told him to stop
with the buzz cuts already
so we can dance with the wind

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 9 Prompt: Today, try writing your own poem in the voice of an animal or plant, or a poem that describes a specific animal or plant with references to historical events or scientific facts.

Pileated Woodpecker of Bramlett Mountain

This morning I happened upon the most wonderful glimmer. Just outside my window a magnificent pileated woodpecker was having a lovely time chipping away at an old downed tree. Of course I caught it on camera…not just a still photo…a little video clip! Enjoy!

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

two left feet

I’m a terrible dancer
you don’t need to remind me
I suppose I’ll just sit here then
hold up the wall and watch,
as you cut a rug, show me
how it’s done…I’ll just
tap my toes under the table
so I don’t embarrass you when
we’re out in public, awkward me,
with my two left, flat feet, stiff hips,
and too-long, flailing, orangutan arms.
you don’t need to remind me

I’m a terrible dancer
the trees don’t seem to mind though
when we start to sway in unison
my golden locks, their lush, sage leaves
tossed by a gentle, cool spring breeze
the tall grass bending gracefully
beneath my bare feet, caressing my skin
as the loam hums, birds trill, the hills swell
in harmony, bird and butterfly wing flutters
sending whispers of breath past my ears…
I lose myself like dandelion fluff
twirling, twirling lightly on a dream
the trees don’t seem to mind though
I’m a terrible dancer

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 8 Prompt: use a simple phrase repeatedly, and then make statements that invert or contradict that phrase.

Always good for a glimmer…my dear sidekick Gabby. She is doing so well these days. On an herbal concoction from our holistic vet after our seed tick scare last month. The supplement aptly names I think…”Gracious Power”! You go Gabby Girl! ✨💚✨

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 7

taco taco 1-2-3

one taco, two taco, three taco, four
crisis averted for two weeks more
five taco, six taco, seven taco, eight
stocks in the tank, as prices inflate
nine taco, ten taco, eleven taco, twelve
the deal maker choked, bluff’s up, his foes held

~kat

True story…breaking news as of now…we have TWO MORE WEEKS before doomsday…is anyone surprised? I actually had spent the day writing my own version of 99 bottles of beer on the wall…think 99 cells in his brain left to go…but I’ll spare you that exhausting, never-ending dirge! I like keeping it short and to the point. In case you don’t get the connection, TACO stands Trump Always Chickens Out! Thank goodness he is unpredictably predictable.Take a deep breath…take a moment.

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 7 Prompt for today: write your own poem that emulates clapping games, or jump-rope and skipping rhymes. songs – something to snap, clap, and jump around to.

Today’s Glimmer…more blooms a-bursting on the hill…an azalea bush that is all buds, and a visit from my crow friend. (He needs a name, I think) Each one is perfect in their own way for a glimmering moment and a smile!

Much love, peace, and smiling, moment glimmers to you!
