Florescence Day 28

days to full, the pink moon,
but already tides swoon
sucking sand from the dunes, swept away

~kat

For Jane’s Daily Florescence Challenge. This month’s moon isn’t full until tomorrow, but I’m feeling its effects already…or maybe it’s just me…though my dog Winston is feeling it too…he told me so…and the tides, well, need I say more? They’re swooning. I’m sure of it. 😉

Enchanting Shapes – Tanka Tuesday

muted
silhouettes dance
in the cool misty brume
bewitching shadows fade into
the void

Elegy for Harriet – NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 24

harrietsgarden

‘come see my garden’
she would say with
a twinkle in her eye
she was a cool, clear evening,
an arched gateway, flanked
by flower beds, eclectic,
like tiny worlds within worlds,
a great old tree, with hatchlings
chattering, a small corner nook
lost in faerie whisperings
such beauty, a gift, blessed
to have been, this creative, lovely
soul who crossed beyond the veil
tending a magnificent garden…
time feels sweeter imagining her there

For NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 24 Prompt: write an elegy – a poem typically written in honor or memory of someone dead. But we’d like to challenge you to write an elegy that has a hopefulness to it. I chose to use a eulogy that I had written for a neighbor a few years ago and to use “blacked out” words to create an elegy poem.

You can read the Eulogy HERE. Below, the blacked out version.

Tune – A Haiku

a familiar tune
songbirds at dawn, mourning doves
sweet melancholy

For Haiku Horizons, Prompt Word: Tune.

Genius

i see things
things no one else can see
and i hear voices, audible, clear
as clear as i am speaking to you this moment
‘they have medication,’ you whisper
to silence the voices.’
if you knew
what it is like to be
just a tad twisted, you’d want it too
this superpower…to plunge into the abyss
to emerge free, illuminated
having slept with the muse
her kisses
sweet as honey, boiling
singeing you from your core to your skin
through your veins, from beating heart, excruciating,
electricity’s spark pulsating
to finger tips, burning
write it down
it takes madness, a touch,
to see the world as I do…listen
can you hear the rose petals laughing, leaves trembling?
oh, nothing compares to lunacy
keep your medication
leave me be.
