The deer of Bramlett Mountain ~ kat
a deer sighting

gentle visitors
emerge from the trees at dusk
grace before a storm

There is another s snow event heading our way. They name snow storms now you know. This one is named Kingston. He is carrying a ton of snow to our region. At least that’s the best guess of meteorologists.

The name Kingston is old English and means simply, “the king’s town”. And a thought occurred to me and made me smile. We don’t have a king here. Not here in these foothills…not in this state…not in this country. Not yet anyway. But right here, right now, I have visitors who happened by. Graceful, beautiful  souls to remind me to go gently into this night. Come snow by dawn or not, Kingston is just passing through and spring is coming. Most surely, spring is in the wings.

Gentle peace, love and glimmers to you.

late summer encounter

late summer encounter

I spied a lovely doe today
she held my gaze, then leapt away
into the brush deep in the hollow
I fought the urge to rush and follow
to think I’m kind would not be safe
we humans are a cruel race
I kept my distance glad to see
her intuition made her flee
run free sweet forest sprite run free
it’s best to fear the likes of me
as hunters plan their autumn sacks
be swift, stay safe, and don’t look back

Hunter’s Moon ~ A Haiku

hind’s feet tread lightly
moon-blushed crimson, rooting deep,
hunters lie in wait

kat ~ 17 October 2016

For Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge, prompt words, “Hunter” & “Moon”.

The digital image is a layered composition that combines my own iPhone 6s photograph of the full moon with the free image of a deer from pixabay member, Sunbar. I used the apps, Magic Eraser and PicsArt to enhance the photo.
