it’s not the
bellowing
of vain bloviators that
we
should be paying attention to
in the din is truth they’re trying to hide

March Pi-Archimedes #24

what now?

can we know
truth
midst a sea of

there is no great hero
to save those intoxicated by power and gas light

Have you heard?

The Mueller investigation is over with no additional indictments proposed…but were reminded that there are over a dozen investigations focused on Trump and his cohorts continuing in its wake…
Brexit got an extension…for better or worse…TBC…
Trump is becoming unhinged as evidenced by a flurry of incoherent tweets and rambling rally diatribes…becoming?
The FAA finally grounded Boeing’s flawed max planes…finally
The world grieves with the Christchurch community, the latest victims of extreme hate…
Casualties mount in the wake of a deadly cyclone in Africa…
The doomsday clock is hovering at 2 minutes to midnight…

The world is in chaos. So, what else is new? Ultimately how we react to adversity determines how we will fare going forward. And it reveals our character or lack thereof. So hang in there. As the good witch Glinda told Dorothy, “You had the power all along, my dear.” Congress, I hope you’re listening.

bright dawn

it is so
good
to see blue skies
sunshine
to hear the birds singing
save clouds, the tempest’s fury, for a rainy day

affluent hoarding

affluent hoarding

a legacy of poverty means that even in times
of plenty, one cannot quench the urge to fill
cupboards with rows of non-perishables, that
will ultimately collect dust, but they are there,
just in case; there’s a propensity to buy two
of everything, to maintain double locks on
doors, to install shades and opaque curtains
to keep the outside, out; to have the car
loaded always with no less than half a tank,
blankets, rations, loose change, because one
never knows; all while obsessing over bank
account balances, due dates, a daily ritual,
a masochistic exercise, of checking dwindling
numbers especially when managing a joint
account with someone whose life was not
touched by empty cupboards, homelessness,
insufficient funds, and never enough, no never
enough, double-check, even when there is
