day 138

remember
promises are sacred, but
only if you keep them
Never tell someone
you will, when you won’t
trust is a powerful thing

much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

one more glimpse into the woods...

day 137 – Time for Another ReVerse

day 137 – Time for Another ReVerse

the trees stood bare on the hills
spring fawns on the way
death stopped by to fetch a soul
to rest in the ancient knowing
how is it possible to miss someone
when today feels lost
their voices soft on the breeze
clearly under great duress,
it’s not over yet, so live
we were intrepid passengers
and you will see…I am a universe
may I learn to be a sparrow
under the weight of loathing
the quiet murmur
a moth perched under the eaves
something is amiss these days
I whispered a wish
when the sun returns
shadows stretch softly
who can sleep?
“great” depends on who you ask

Today’s Glimmer…we celebrated the 1st birthday of my great-granddaughter Rory. 🙂

A ReVerse poem (a practice I started many years ago) is a summary poem with a single line lifted from each entry of a collection of work over a particular timeframe and re-penned in chronological order as a new poem. Unlike a collaborative poem, the ReVerse features the words of one writer, providing a glimpse into their thoughts over time. I use it here as a review of the past several weeks.

day 136

trickle down autocracy

to make America great again
deals are sealed with sharpie pens
exploiting fabricated mandates
to fuel the desperate masses’ hate
as promised cruelty is delivered
at breakneck speed to make us shiver
destroying the hope of immigrants
and quashing voices of dissent
they laud the vilest of the vile
forcing birth, ignoring the child
rights are for sale if you have cash
“great” depends on who you ask
die hards tow the maga line
you know it’s just a matter of time
before the carnage hits their door
and shows them what they voted for

~kat

It’s distressing to know that people close to me voted for this madness. When I ask what they think about all that is happening, they tell me they just don’t watch the news anymore. It’s like a blow to my heart by a drive by voter who never looks back to see the destruction left in the wake of their patriotic malfeasance. Before the election. They didn’t want to hear my concerns…and after, well it’s time to move on. They won they think. They don’t realize we all lost something precious that cold day in November…

I can’t leave you on this note of gloom. You and I both need a glimmer or two, so, here you go… mourning doves mourning the empty feeders, fighting with the squirrels over the last morsels, and our resident rodent being quite dramatic, especially when he noticed me peering out the window…rest assured the feeders were replenished to the brim after this performance!

day 135

nocturne

when
the night sky grows
dark
the earth comes to life
the constellation of stars above and flitting fireflies below
twinkle bright
peepers peep and screech owls shriek
the rain-swelled creek percolates
who can sleep?
I spend hours wide awake

~kat

peace, love, and night glimmers to you.

day 134

late afternoon after the rain ~kat
multiple musings

shadows stretch softly
through the trees heavy with leaves
many shades of green

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
when the sun returns
after days of drenching rain
we forget the grey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I whispered a wish
to the emptiness of night
that stars might hear me
tossed coins into still fountains
hoping for more than ripples

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you might have noticed
something is amiss these days
check in with your heart
~kat
A few haiku and a tanka…streams of subconsciousness…a meandering sort of day. A little work, a little play. And the sun has finally made an appearance after days of heavy rain. The ground is damp…well, moist if you must know. And all seems peaceful and right in my little patch of green.
I had a conversation with a squirrel today. He very much likes the table I set for him. I didn’t mention that the feeders he’s feasting from are for the birds! I just smile and nod and tell him how happy I am he likes sunflower seeds.
Note to Self: I must tuck this feeling away for a rainy day…or the end of democracy…I am sure I’ll need this glimmer in my back pocket to get me through whatever comes next.
Much love, peace and glimmers to you.
And before I close, a snapshot of my little friend who agreed to pose for me. ✨✨✨💚💚💚✨✨✨
