42 Day 18

i can tell

how luminous you are
in deep shades of green…

you must love the rain
luxuriating in cool wetness
while I contend with frizzy locks

42 Day 18 for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge. Day 1 of this week’s rain was refreshing, along with a great relief due to the cold front that it pushed through. But today…three, or is it four? it’s a blur…days in, enough already.  Everything is damp…my clothes, my hair, the air. What I wouldn’t give for a zero humidity sunny day. A girl can dream…

On Being Present – 42 Day 17

why the longing

never satisfied
ever striving

breathe…
everything you need
is here and now

Day 17 for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge “42”.

Tour de Force

tour de force

triumph
in grace thrusting
so to feel the sun’s kisses
the sprout bursts through concrete
éclat

A Cinquain for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge, using synonyms only of the words, Dignity – grace and Success – triumph, tour de force, éclat.

Unaffected – 42 Day 16

Unaffected

I could lose myself

in the rain tapping on the window…plop…plop
mid-day drowsy, under fluorescent lights, strobing

I could, but I won’t
it has taken me far too long to find myself…
and this isn’t me…no, not by a long shot

Day 16 of Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge: “42”.

42 Day 15

muted dawn and this

heaving, heavy,
wet-grey stillness

would that the rain would
come, blackening the sky
cooling us with its tears
