no moon in the sky the fiddler plays in the rain mad cows running wild

Here in this land of immigrants, are any of us eligible to be called citizen? (Except the native peoples). It’s getting crazier and crazier. Some may try to blame it on the heatwave…or the “other guy” …but there is only one person who bears responsibility …
Stay safe out there my friends…look out for each other…be kind…we all need kindness now more than ever.
there’s a deliciously cool breeze rolling through the foothills dancing with turned up tree leaves, a welcome relief from days of oppressive heat, supper’s on the stove, stuffed peppers, tomato sauce, and shredded mozzarella the kitchen filled with spice and warmth as droplets leave craters in the dust and tap lightly on the metal roof, hummingbirds sipping nectar, deer and turkey hens plucking up bits of corn, squirrels collecting sunflower seeds, scurrying into the woods to take shelter, mourning doves coo-cooing, crows caw-cawing, goldfinches flickering, cowbirds clucking… my dog at my feet, the cats chasing dust bunnies dusk and dinner time when everything slows down and sleep waits in the wings to escort me to dreamland, but I must admit, on this darkening, gray night on the cusp of a storm, it feels as if I am already dreaming

Three times I have written a few thoughts as I typically do…and three times while editing the draft, I have completely lost the text into the Ethernet. I think that means today’s poem is meant to stand on its own.
But I do have a few glimmers to share with you.
The first one is a snapshot of my mail order lotus flower beans that to my surprise are actually popping open and coming to life!
And the second, a latecomer from my evening walk after the storm that never amounted to more than a few drops of rain and a few impressive flashes of lightening and booming thunder…it was a dud. But I digress. Before the Gremlins here delete me yet again…I found this beautiful, magical gift from one of my crow friends.
A single crow feather is a sign of protection. It’s a good omen if you see one because it means that even when you feel like you’re in danger, someone or something is watching over you to keep you safe.
I think maybe this crow totem may have had something to do with my technical issues this evening! 😳😆
when shade offers no rest from the heat and the breeze feels like hot breath on your skin, there is only one thing to do…water the flowers… and yourself so you don’t wither!
Welcome to The Bramlett Mountain Foothills Cafe and Red Dust Spa! It’s girls’ day out today. Five lovely Jennies stopped by strutting their beautifulness, and talking turkey…Oh, I sure would love to know what or who they’re talking about! It was quite a spectacle worthy of reality show notoriety.
The sights we see here in the foothills! It was a good day, and started out fabulous…glimmery even! Five glimmers to be exact!
Stay cool my friends! Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!
a turkey hen showing her chick where the feeders are at dawn……after breakfast they head to the dust pit for a spa treatment.,,
…learning how it’s done…and mimicking mom to perfection!
a sense of summer
I know the scent and sounds of dawn its first light’s symphony of song the earthy scent of dew drenched loam the sunlit sparkling fields of home
I know the feel of days at noon sun high and hot in skies of blue where shadows cast by towering trees shade earth while dancing in the breeze
I love the subtle shifts at dusk the rising mist that smells of musk horizons edge afire en rouge the setting sun sinks from our view
to sleep, to dream another night to read, to write by candlelight under the twinkling moon and stars connecting all, both near and far
my senses swoon in summertime I’m feeling green and that’s just fine!

Our landscaper asked us if we wanted him to fill in that exposed area of red clay and dust on the hill in our back yard area. And then he backtracked and said…never mind…I know you guys. It’s true. How could we sod over an area that gives the local turkeys (and us as their witnesses) so much happiness! I felt so fortunate to catch this dust bath ritual on film!
When people ask us how we could move away from the city and the convenience of shopping close by, to the woods, with horrible WiFi, prone to power outages, sitting on a hill with a long, steep, scary driveway…this is why.
All this happens just feet away from my window. I am so happy here. And so happy too to share this little bit of joy with you.
the air is thick and wet earth barely breathing beneath clouds that have fallen from a purple sky at dusk…I am overcome by the sweetness of flowers

We’re having a heat wave. Someone asked me what’s going on with this hot weather? And I replied…global warming? But it depends on who you ask! 😉
But, seriously, it is breathtakingly hot…and not in a good, beautiful way! Here in Virginia we have the added impact of humidity. This clammy combination makes for oppressive heat. When I took a photo of my front yard this evening, you could see the moisture hanging in the air. Everything is a bit muted and cloudy.
As much as I loathe conversations that devolve into an appraisal of the weather, here we are … or rather here I am boring you with the weather! There is certainly no glimmer to be found in a heatwave, but I do appreciate those of you still reading.
I knew magnetic poetry would serve this topic well! The glimmer, if you can call it that, is the reflection tool in PicsArt that helped me express this sticky wet sensation of humidity in Virginia in swampy picture form. The photo backdrop above is not real. The actual unaltered view is below. The magic of photo editing is amazing don’t you think?
This is the actual photo of my front yard…
I know the world is downright wacky right now. Sometimes creating my own glimmers are all I can do to preserve my sanity (though some might say I lost that long ago! 🤣)
Exercising my creative side gives me such joy, I consider it glimmer worthy! But if you’re not buying it, there is always Mr. Bean. He’s 100 % glimmer!
I’m rambling…let me just say much love, peace, and glimmers to you, wherever you can find them…and call it a day.
