Calling on (Better) Angels

cleave
my dears
to all things
good, lovely, true,
averse to the lies
of gutless fools intent
on arousing fear, stoking hate,
for their disdain and self loathing
belongs in the boneyard forever
quiet, silenced by our better angels

An Etheree this week for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge, Synonyms Only, Prompt words: Afraid: gutless, aroused, averse, and Grave, boneyard, cleave, quiet.

After the Rain – Magnetic Poetry Saturday

beautiful quiet comes
after the rain as
clouds grow softly
into blue and light falls
like tendrils blanketing
me in deep peace

Magnetic Poetry Saturday – 15 October 2016

I took advantage of this weekend’s full moon for this week’s magnetic poetry entry. I also found a cool app that allows me to remove backgrounds so I can overlay my poem on a photograph. You can see others magnetic poems at Elusive Trope’s blog, specks and fragments.

she who cannot be muted

the clouds frost this
night’s full moon
as if they could quiet
her beautiful pure spirit,
but she will never be
overcome as though her
bright light is too wild
