The Un-Resolution

noresolutions

You may resolve each year to live a life of much less stress
of all the resolutions you could make, this one’s the best
except that the solution’s
not to make a resolution
’cause who needs the pressure of less stress to drive you to distress!

An end of the year Limerick for Rashmi’s Mind and Life Matters Challenge. I couldn’t resist being topically timely with this one. So I chose the theme of Resolutions for this week’s limerick. I don’t like to make resolutions. When I fail, as I am ultimately doomed to do, I end up feeling defeated and guilty. So I find it best to look for ways to be the best I can be everyday, instead of piling up expectations for the beginning of each new year! So far it has worked well. And I do manage to get things accomplished from year to year. 🙂

A Surprise Limerick

“Surprise me!”she often said.
Two words that filled him with dread.
No matter the choosing
he ended up losing.
Now she does the planning instead!

A limerick for my friend Rashmi at Mind and Life Matters who gave us the prompt “surprise” for this week’s Limerick Poetry Challenge. If you’d like to read others or participate, click HERE.

A Limerick for the Season

Some will light a Yule Log on a wintry Solstice night
Others a Menorah or Advent Wreath of candlelight
Merry Christmas some will say
Or wish you Happy Holidays
All sentiments of hope for peace, with wishes warm and bright. ❤️

Winter Blues

snow
We hide inside our homes to winter o’er these shorter days

And languish through the frigid cold ‘neath dreary skies of gray
If not for promises of spring
We might lose hope in everything
So wake me when the first bloom blooms…until then, go away!

A Limerick inspired by the prompt “Winter”. This is a weekly writing prompt from Mind and Life Matters. Thank you Rashmi for hosting another great prompt word! If you would like to read more or enter your own Limerick, please click HERE.

A Limerick for the Seasons

My friend Rashmi at MindandLifeMatters gave us the prompt “Seasons” for this week’s Limerick Challenge. I have to say I spent alot of time chewing on this one. I have no trouble waxing poetic on the topic of Seasons in free verse…or even Haiku, but when it came to crafting a proper limerick…it had me stumped. Here’s my best attempt. Have a great week everyone! If you would like to have a go at this challenge, click HERE. 🙂

A Limerick for the Seasons

Summertime sizzles and Autumn leaves fall,
Winter winds chill and Spring blooms enthrall,
Each season in order,
A year drawn in quarters,
Nature’s perfection inspires us all!
