cool gray painted clouds illume her greenness tranquility amidst the storm
~kat
It is said that the color green symbolizes a myriad of lovely attributes. Among them, tranquility caught my attention. I have noticed when a storm is looming the darkening gray sky flips a switch on the earth below, and every shade of green glows greener. Even in the afterglow of a storm the earth takes on a brilliant tone of green.
Tranquility in the midst of a storm. It feels like mother nature is nudging me toward another lesson that I can emulate in my own life. When the storms of life come, if I remember my roots, who I am, and allow the light within to sustain me, I can weather anything. I came here to live life to the fullest. Anything less is like thunder with no rain during a heatwave.
Much love, peace, and glimmers of you…yes you.

tell me something anything that might convince me you have a soul…I don’t know you

One day I hope those who voted for what is happening in this country see the truth. Until then, I grieve for the people they were. I grieve for the people who are suffering. I grieve for what our nation could have been if not for a madman at the top with an army of cruel followers intent on destroying all that is true and good and honorable.
I am so grateful for the beauty that surrounds me. For life emerging all around. For glimmers that give me hope that there is still goodness in the world. Today’s reminder came in the form of a tiny sprouting banana tree leaf. In one day’s time it grew from a nib to a sprout.
Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

when life feels chaotic simple moon daisies glimmer in ordered perfection

Yesterday…last week in general, was a particularly horrible week in the slow death of the US democracy. I am still trying to wrap my brain around all that happened recently, while trying to remember all the atrocities of previous weeks. We cannot let the magnitude of each new news cycle’s horribleness lead us to forget the past cries for justice. Sovereign nations are still being ravaged by aggressors, the disappeared amongst us are still missing, tariffs are destroying trade and world economies, women are still suffering and dying due to blocked access to healthcare, poor children are hungry, some dying, immigrant children are still being separated from their families, vulnerable populations are becoming invisible, history is being hidden and rewritten…all while cruelty is celebrated and the filthy rich are getting richer. I know it’s exhausting. I feel it in my bones as I imagine many of you do. But, we are many voices and while we may not be able to advocate for every single one of these issues we can choose one or maybe two that resonates deeply with our own heart and soul to pursue justice from our spineless government officials. Maybe if we are loud enough our voices will overcome the toxic bullying from the top and help them see that bowing to him only leads to more cruelty and destruction. One can hope.
On my morning walk I noticed a tiny glimmer in the distance. As I got closer I realized it was a pair of wild daisies blooming in the middle of nowhere. Just two. Perfectly formed. Upon closer inspection I felt immediate calm in my troubled heart as I gazed at the flowers’ center blossoms, tucked in tightly in a Fibonacci spiral. Nature always brings me back to my senses and reminds me that underneath all the chaos, there is still beautiful order to keep us. We just need to allow our troubled minds to see it. And so this morning I did. I will carry this picture in my mind today to help me breath when the world gets too ugly to bear.
Much love, peace, and glimmers to you. If you can’t seem to find your own, I am happy to mine with you🌻✨✨💚💚✨✨🌻

And of course the poem form for today had to be the Fib! A Fib poem is ‘a six line, 20 syllable poem with a syllable count by line of 1/1/2/3/5/8 – the classic Fibonacci sequence.’ (You can also write a Fib poem using word count in sequence.)
Well, it’s been a week. In review I realized I even missed a day! I had no idea! As I mentioned today, I have several unfinished poems. I present them to you here…Fibs minus 1. Feel free to finish them in the comments … 8 syllables, or not. Maybe they don’t need to be “finished”.
Fib Minus 1 Poem Dump
1- no one ever said it would be easy, but that’s life
2- break of dawn when light meets dark dreams fade into mist
3- storm clouds blossom into view slow, intentional
Fib Minus-2 Poem Dump
pale moon crescent
And…a Full Fib that didn’t make the cut.
when truth threatens opinions lies gain a foothold distorting all reality
You get the picture. This week was a little scattered!
But most importantly, my lesson this week as a full time caretaker with a full time job is this: don’t forget to be kind and take care of yourself while you’re taking care of others. It’s a good reminder.
I’m so grateful, truly, for this oasis, where I can pour my thoughts out. Have a wonderful week.

Oh, and before I send this…an update on the Carolina Wren brood…it’s been one week since they emerged from their shells! Mom and dad have been stellar parents providing the chicks with plenty of bugs (it’s what’s on the menu). I managed to get a peak into the nest. We’re thinking four…maybe five hungry mouths to feed. One more week before they fledge… amazing!!!
