bad “hair” day
my stylist complains
the lawn next door is greener
I told him to stop
with the buzz cuts already
so we can dance with the wind

Na/GloPoWriMo 2026 Day 9 Prompt: Today, try writing your own poem in the voice of an animal or plant, or a poem that describes a specific animal or plant with references to historical events or scientific facts.
This morning I happened upon the most wonderful glimmer. Just outside my window a magnificent pileated woodpecker was having a lovely time chipping away at an old downed tree. Of course I caught it on camera…not just a still photo…a little video clip! Enjoy!
Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

Thank you Peter! It was such a treat to capture that fellow on video. We hear them in the distance. It is so rare to actually see one!

Thanks Di! We have several types of woodpeckers where I live, but the pileated are my favorites. Their call sounds wild and prehistoric and they are huge! Spectacular birds! It’s always a treat when one happens by! 😊

We could hear one when we were on the boat but never located him. We had a red spotted one in the garden when we were in the cottage and once saw a green one when we were in the woods as it flew straight in front of us!

They are such interesting birds. A vital player in the ecosystem to be sure!

Always amazes me they don’t get a headache, but apparently it’s the way their skulls are designed…….. built in shock absorbers! Fascinating to watch.
