there is no safe place when cruelty becomes sport vengeance in the wind
~kat
After a brief reprieve from bitter cold and wintry weather the winds returned today. When I was a girl I loved the wind. But age and experience…and reality have jaded my perception. The winds strip the trees bare. Icy breezes drop temperatures to bitter lows. Trees snap and lose their footing. Now that I am older I take shelter when the winds come. These days when the wind whips through the trees I hold my breath and hope that the walls and roof hold. These days the calm after the storm brings sweet relief amidst the aftermath of the tempest’s rage.
Keep safe my friends. Keep each other safe. Peace, love, and glimmers to you. ~kat
i am like the wind, tracing every curve of you, tossing your hair, whispering in your ear, swirling amidst the embers to warm your skin but it is those moments when you breathe me in holding me near your heart that take my breath away
there is no rustling of leaves
on this blustery winter’s day
naked tree limbs moan and sway
icy gusts swirl ‘neath the eaves
on this blustery winter’s day
there is no rustling of leaves
battered, billowing trees
bent from a blust’ry breeze
their dappled crowns like seas, leaf scattered

Playing along with Jane Dougherty’s Daily Florescence Poem Challenge. Today Jane combined her florescense with a 5-word prompt from Secret Keeper. After laboring on and off for hours over the 5 words and their synonyms, my head started to hurt. So I glanced out the window and watched the wind-tossed trees. Mercifully the universe gave me a substitute topic for today’s daily poem. Coffee break over…back to spreadsheets and memos. 🙂
