42 Day 18

i can tell

how luminous you are
in deep shades of green…

you must love the rain
luxuriating in cool wetness
while I contend with frizzy locks

42 Day 18 for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge. Day 1 of this week’s rain was refreshing, along with a great relief due to the cold front that it pushed through. But today…three, or is it four? it’s a blur…days in, enough already.  Everything is damp…my clothes, my hair, the air. What I wouldn’t give for a zero humidity sunny day. A girl can dream…

Rain

rain looming
brisk breezes exposing
the light underbellies of tree leaves
charcoal grey clouds swelling, heavy with cool raindrops
hint of dew in the air, then droplets
leave craters in the dust
parched no more

Elemental Rain ~ A Cherita

softly

daubs of hydrogen
and oxygen times two

raining
life, encapsulated
in droplets, bursting

Rain Grey – A Cherita

Raindrops on double-layered, resin-laminated glass

heavy, grey fog obscures the distant mountain vista;
scrawny winter trees, black-wet, line acres of partitioned asphalt

I sit, sipping jasmine, sugar-sweet tea under fluorescent yellow strobes
and see my red fiat 500c sandwiched between two SUV’s, my escape from the madness
what I wouldn’t give for a puddle to stomp but the grated abyss has devoured it

~kat

Another view from Cubicle-World on this bleak winter’s day captured a la Cherita. I typically lunch at my desk…blah…blah…blah. And occasionally I am pleasantly interrupted from the drear by my muse…or maybe it is just the rain.   🙂

Magnetic Poetry Monday

it’s raining…clouds
deep, dark, wet
between stone
and sky
breath of life, thick,
sweet, moist air,
beautiful wild blossoms
withering, leave traces
of eden on the breeze
