day 76…catching up

where there is smoke
.
fire
is most certainly raging
somewhere
there is no denying it
we see the smoke billowing, blotting out the sky
here…there
random houses set afire, leaving nothing…
those who fan the flames
do not care
that people are still inside

Catching up today …I took a social media news break yesterday. Not that I was completely off the hook. My day job provided all the stress I could handle, or not handle. I keep telling myself I am getting too old to deal with office politics and greedy boards and shareholders whose demands trickle down through our micromanaging bosses to us…the worker bees who barely get a chance to taste our own honey.

The prospect of losing my hard earned benefits to pay the wealthy few a bonus for re-electing their great leader makes me all the more weary.

On a positive note, I managed to speak up for myself and set some boundaries. It took a lot for me to stand up for myself. I tend to acquiesce. So there is that. A little victory to celebrate. A glimmer if you will. Enough of a spark to keep me going forward.

Peace, Love, and Glitters,

Another Pi-inspired poem. This time based on the number of words for each line correlated to the number sequence: pi = 3.1415926535

Peace, Love, and Heart Glimmers to You!

Day 71

saving daylight

days feel longer
since we stole an hour from dawn
dusk creeps in slowly

~kat

I’m not on board yet with daylight savings time. Mornings still feel dark and I’m not happy about losing sleep. Despite going to bed earlier, the dawn comes too soon.

But because I work long hours I used to miss these sunsets. And there is still enough daylight when I clock out to feed the birds and drop a few kernels of corn for my flock. I will likely never get this year’s hour back, but today I am counting the blessings I would have missed. In fact, did miss only a few short days ago. It’s a fair trade I suppose. And hour for this beautiful view. Glimmers even as night falls.

Peace, love, and glimmers to you!

~kat

p.s. There are more glimmers to share from today. Photos taken from my room with a view!Nature is ready to get the party, that is spring, started!

day 70

Wow…I don’t know if the turkey hens were impressed by this display, but I certainly was, as these Toms strutted their stuff in spectacular fashion! I had just stepped away from my desk for a short break to make a cup of tea …just in time to witness the spring Turkey trot right outside my window.

It feels like spring now. What an amazing glimmer to start my day! I’m so glad I had my phone close by so I could take photos of this annual ritual to share with you.

Meanwhile, the world continued on its chaotic roll today, but there is one thing I know…our leaders cannot cancel spring!

Peace, Amoré ❤️🌹❤️ and glimmers to you!

a small, significant consolation

at least they cannot cancel spring
as they dismantle everything
healthcare, justice, who needs those
education…that’s got to go
America now has a king

he’s on a binge of firing
while dancing on a puppet string
vile dictators, his band of bros
at least they cannot cancel spring

trees alive with songbirds singing
longer days, blue sky, sun shining
rain-drenched earth where seedlings grow
whatever happens, we can know
nature keeps the world spinning
at least they cannot cancel spring

day 69

almost spring

spring is springing
bud-bursts dot the towering trees
spring is springing
morning breaks with songbirds singing
the scent of greening on the breeze
filling our hearts with joie de vivre
spring is springing

~kat

Happy almost spring to you! There are glimmers everywhere…especially now that spring is in the wings! For today, I am happy to ignore the spin and chaos and just enjoy the beauty of the season. Soon the hills will be covered in green dotted with bright perennials, and the trees will burst with leaves just in time to shelter nesters and fledglings. And the doe will be fawning… I wonder if we’ll have a set of twins or triplets wandering through as we have in years passed?! Even in the midst of dreadful daily news spring gives us so much look forward to in gratitude!

Peace, love and spring glimmers to you!
