Day 277 ~ Time for a ReVerse

Day 277 ~ Time for a ReVerse

let us stand in the balance
spent storm clouds disbursing
not through division and hate,
silenced by fear
peace in the foothills
one word transports us
a lovely chorus of life living
even whispers
waiting for a swift wind
as if debating was still a thing
normal to feel nothing inside
Please Be Quiet | for being different
it’s already too late
Please Do Not Feed
a freight train with no breaks

The hummingbirds seem to have gone. The temperatures have dipped for days now, the dawn is darker and dusk comes sooner. I’m not sure what flips the switch in their little heads to set them off on a trip to the tropics…even more puzzling, what causes them to return here in the spring? Surely it’s not my jars of simple sugar water. It definitely is not safe for them to stay here through winter. At any rate, I will fill a few feeders one last time for any stragglers from the great migration, and I shall wish them well…a safe journey…a lovely holiday…and look forward to their return come spring.

When our government changed hands last January I had considered leaving for more a hospitable destination to live out my days. I knew it was going to be frightfully horrifying. The hatred and vengeance had just had four years to simmer and fester into the monstrous reality we all find ourselves in today. It’s much worse I must say than I could have imagined.

Needless to say I’m still here. For one thing, I don’t have the means to pick up and relocate to another place. And honestly, the grass is not always greener. This fever of hate is catching on everywhere these days. It knows no bounds. This is my home. Leaving won’t change anything. Staying, resisting, standing up to cruelty, using my voice just might shine a little light. Whether we all make it through this dark time is not promised. But we can decide how we face it together.

I’ll leave you with glimmers as I always do. These are my favorites from the past few weeks… ✨💚✨

Much love, peace, and glimmers to you!

Resist.

A ReVerse poem (a practice I started many years ago) is a summary poem with a single line lifted from each entry of a collection of work over a particular timeframe and re-penned in chronological order as a new poem. Unlike a collaborative poem, the ReVerse features the words of one writer, providing a glimpse into their thoughts over time. I use it here as a review of the past several weeks.

day 256 ~a ReVerse Poem ~14 September 2025

day 256 ~a ReVerse Poem ~14 September 2025

a time to harvest…to let go
words are meaningless
take to the wind led by stars and ancient instinct
set the air afire with diversion
a legacy left to survivors
like a damned thief in the night

I said it in an earlier post…last week was rough for so many, for so many different reasons. When things are moving so fast it is disorienting. That seems to be the point. Leadership at various levels have failed us. We have failed ourselves by failing to hold them accountable.

Once upon a time we aspired to be a government of, by, and for the people. Public service was a cherished, respectable calling. I pray every day that we will pass this current season’s challenge, and come out on the other side.  Our nation has weathered many challenges in its short history, and I trust we will make it through this time too. What a privilege it is to hold onto hope for everything we could be.

Much love, peace and glimmers of hope to you.

day 249 ~ a ReVerse ~ 7 September 2025

a ReVerse ~ 7 September 2025

I took the long way home
for justice, for peace
kisses, to help me breathe, in deeply
speaking truth, hoping to be seen
smoke knows no borders
teach me how to let go

Reentry can feel like being swept up in a whirlwind. Not gonna lie, the last week has been a bit tempestuous. While traveling through 5 states immersed in the memories of each place it’s easy to forget the day to day. It’s not a bad thing to step off the treadmill for a season. But as I look back over the past week, no matter how far removed from the drama, I am consistently myself. I care deeply about others and seek peace, justice and compassion for everyone…everyone. Even as I recounted memories of my vacation, truth and justice found a way to be remembered as well. It’s a good to know I’m on the path I’m meant to be on, rain or shine, no matter where I find myself.

Much love, peace and glimmers to you!

day 137 – Time for Another ReVerse

day 137 – Time for Another ReVerse

the trees stood bare on the hills
spring fawns on the way
death stopped by to fetch a soul
to rest in the ancient knowing
how is it possible to miss someone
when today feels lost
their voices soft on the breeze
clearly under great duress,
it’s not over yet, so live
we were intrepid passengers
and you will see…I am a universe
may I learn to be a sparrow
under the weight of loathing
the quiet murmur
a moth perched under the eaves
something is amiss these days
I whispered a wish
when the sun returns
shadows stretch softly
who can sleep?
“great” depends on who you ask

Today’s Glimmer…we celebrated the 1st birthday of my great-granddaughter Rory. 🙂
