fires in the north rage on, turning the sun red smoke knows no borders

This time of year the western sky is often blush red and amber as the sun sets. But today the sun itself was crimson red. From the news I learned that this phenomenon is caused by smoke in the atmosphere from the wildfires in Canada. It was an odd sight. A glimmer if you will that reminded me that the earth does not concern herself with boundaries or walls or borders. We are all citizens of the world.
Much love, peace and glimmers to you wherever you hang your hat. I see you.
Before I call it a night one more glimmer. So rosy bright is the sun today that even the moon has taken on a golden pink hue. As under the sun by day, we all sleep under the same moon.
Afternoon sun refracted/reflected through the neon tetra fish tank onto the laundry closet doors. Late summer 2025 ~kat
not a hoax
innocent girls trapped in women’s bodies now stand bravely in the face of power speaking truth, hoping to be seen after years of invisibility, years… we’re taught to trust, to respect our elders, to serve, to obey but no one taught us how to respond to elders who turned into monsters

I watched the press conference yesterday…you know the one…the one featuring the women seeking justice for the crimes they suffered as young girls at the hands of the rich and famous. They stand for every woman who has ever been abused. Me too came and went. But these women and their supporters are not going away. We need to support them and uphold their right to seek justice. May they finally be heard, and may they finally receive the justice withheld from them by the rich and powerful. Even as they poured their hearts out on the grounds near the capitol building, Trump doubled down on his latest catch phrase. “It’s a hoax!” No donald…it is not a hoax.
it took a north-flowing river a campfire, a bottle of Yuengling, from America’s oldest brewery, and stories of hogs, sunflower gardens, pepper relish recipes, and great dane kisses, to help me breathe, in deeply out slowly with a sigh underneath a perfect blue cloud brushed sky

There is something special about a riverside campfire. The easy flow of the water, waterfowl riding the current, good food, great company, and cool crisp air…lots of it…that has a way of healing the heart and soul. I didn’t even realize that I needed a sit by the river until it happened. It was the last day of a perfect time away. I am not entirely back into my pre-trip routine. And that’s okay. Sometimes you just need to pause a spell to take it all in.
there is love hearts chiseled from stone crying out for justice for peace yes, even the rocks

It’s been a short long week. While I have been writing and collecting glimmers along the way, I am only now catching my breath. Today’s glimmer is a glimpse of the heart shaped treasures I found on my walks with Gabby. It was quite a productive few days. Everywhere I looked there were heart-shaped stones. Amidst rousing conversations on the state of the world over dinner, I returned to our hotel and grounded myself in gravel plant beds. So many things about this trip were healing. Today’s theme and glimmers are the rocks that begged me to notice them…and bring them home with me.
some days I am red at dawn, and at dusk thoughts and prayers are not enough no hint of sweetness four killed, nine wounded maple tree leaves are turning

Another day meeting found family. My life partner is adopted. When she was in her early 20’s her birth mother’s family found her and reached out to her. It has not gone entirely well. So much drama. These types of things can be volatile and messy. There is one sister who she maintained contact with. We visited her today. And then…
She never knew who her biological father was until this year. I had gifted her a DNA test a couple years ago. After about a year she decided to take the test and send it in. About the same time a sister she never knew existed… and who never knew she existed took a DNA test for fun as well. And through the magic of DNA mapping, there was a match. Her sister eventually reached put to me, and lo and behold T has 3 sisters she never knew existed, and three or more nieces and nephews, and a father who is still alive.
We met that sister on her biological father’s side for the very first time. It went well… Very well in fact. This side of the family has its own dramatic twists and turns, but the sister who reached out to us earlier this year was delightful to meet. And gave my partner another piece of the puzzle of her origin story. It was a good day. A very good day. And today’s glimmer? Well, it is family! The family you’re born into, the family you know, the family you create…and sometimes the family you discover.
Much love, peace, and glimmers to you. Hug those you love…family, wherever you find them are precious gifts.
