Day 66 ~ grace

hubris

i woke up at dawn
so to see the sun rising
as if, just for me
but even when I sleep in
the sun fills the sky with light

Just sharing a thought that crossed my mind recently in my quest for glimmers. Glimmers are best when they are unexpected, and especially when they touch us, but not because they are presenting themselves to us personally. Such vanity…such hubris! Glimmers do what they do. They are best when we take the time and stop to notice their light and goodness.

The sun rising each day, the way a cool breeze feels on bare skin, the sound of birdsong, the sweet smell of ground-soaked rain…these wonders do not exist for me alone. I am learning as I pause to reflect on these daily glimmers that the gift of gratefulness is a powerful grace that feeds my soul in these moments. I am learning to be less expectant, more present, and more delighted by that grace as I learn to shed my self-centered tendencies as I embrace the world unfolding obliviously around me. Not just for me. But a precious gift that is life for us all!

Peace, love, and simple glimmers to you.

day 65 …speaking of eggs

…speaking of eggs

Dumpty Trumpty from atop his fake wall
declared to world “I’m the greatest of all
you must bow before me and kiss my fat ass
swear allegiance to me to gain what you ask
but all for a price, you know nothing comes free
and keeping you poor just means more for me
so a tax for your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams
away with the truth, nothing is what it seems
though it may appear that we’re all on the brink
I’ll tell you what you need to fear and to think
It’s time to rewrite all of history’s facts
with a sharpie in hand rename points on the map
dispose of the words and the people I hate
they’ll have to pay dearly to enter the gate
democracy’s great if you know who to pay
we’ll take all your treasure then turn you away
America first, not the south part or north
and only the red in the middle have worth!”
yes, Dumpty’s a terror to all living things
but if you look close, Putin’s pulling his strings.

Occasionally I just need to rant. I suppose I could scream at the top of my lungs in traffic or a crowded store. But I wouldn’t advise that sort of outburst. I do have an alternative…writing a saucy, satirical poem.

So that’s my glimmer for today. If the current state of the world has you feeling concerned, I hope it brings a smile to you. And if not, well, I’m sorry…not sorry.. I hope you’re offended. My favorite new greeting is “I hope you have the day you voted for!”

Peace (I really do wish you peace), love, and glimmers to you…glimmers of joy or glimmers of reality…whatever floats your boat.

day 64…slightly delayed

whispers from the ash heap

nobody noticed
when the dust settled
drifting into nooks and cracks
coating shelves and knickknacks
nobody noticed
when everything slowly faded
under a dull gray hue

we have forgotten
we are stardust and light
we are bone and sinew
blood and flesh infused
with the eternal spirit of love
living, breathing beacons
with potential for goodness

nobody noticed
as we languished
under the ash heaps
of history repeating
we have forgotten
what we are made of
we have forgotten
who we are...

This one ruminated for a while in my head, eking out in pieces…I needed to sleep in it to bring it to the page. The glimmer for day 64…remember, remember who you are. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are less than…

Peace, Live, and Glimmers to you!

day 63 … and there’s more

Even the TURKEYS are restless this morning!

Sending more glimmers to you…don’t forget to breathe!

Love and light to you!

day 63 – game on

Good morning! I may come up with a poem later today, but for now I just had to share this morning’s glimmer to you. If you’ve been following me, you know that I have a faithful duo (an attempted murder, if you will 😉) of crows who call for me and wait for me to give them peanuts. Recently, a third crow has joined them, but only after I have presented the peanuts. Drama ultimately ensues, as the blue jays descend to steal the peanuts, but the crows hold their ground.

This morning, THREE crows perched in their watching tree…and not pictured above a fourth called from a distance (the neighbor’s yard) to them.

You know I love a good analogy…and I so needed a glimmer this morning as our president has imposed unreasonable tariffs on our neighbors to the north and south, cut off all aid to our ally, Ukraine, as he openly aligns with Russia, stopping all sanctions, all while continuing to dismantle our government causing undue harm to our people. He will no doubt be boasting about his self-perceived prowess over the the world in his address to Congress tonight. It makes me feel sick. This morning, I believe the universe sent me just the encouragement I needed to face the day.

The jays won’t win the peanut wars, because the crows are organizing, growing in number. Even neighboring crows are adding their voice to the scene. There has been a shift. I know to some my take on this might seem odd, even wishful thinking. But it has encouraged me so much this morning. We have a murder folks…IYKYK

Peace, Love, and Glimmers to you! Whatever new horrors might unfold today, the crows are organizing!
