fair
lily
kiss of fire
flashing crimson
in solitary reverie she blooms

A study on the symbolism of lilies, comfort for those who may be grieving…as the flowers most often associated with funerals, lilies symbolize that the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death.

Made me think about an old friend and a different flower:
Still.
Yellow
crocuses
ghosting the lawn.
Perennial memorials. Still gone.
I hope you don’t mind my riffing off your beautiful poem in this space. I am in awe that you post something every day. I couldn’t/wouldn’t without some sort of prompt or impetus.

I love your poem. Here is a serendipitous bit for you… the crocus has a variety named for Joan of Arc. The Joan D’arc Crocus…and…it just happens to be her feast day today. (Mind blown!) 😉

Had no idea. Just that your poem prompted this one. I get the lily symbolism but for me it is a yellow crocus. The lone crocus in my rabbit ravaged lawn comes up on the anniversary of a friend’s death.
