It’s Not a Sign

I’ve never believed in signs.

Except today, after a series of idiotic missteps, the dog getting loose on our walk, misplacing my car keys, a telemarketer who called as I was walking out the door, who wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise, so I just hung up because I was running late, only to be stuck in traffic, but not before getting lost after being detoured because of construction on Main, that made me miss my appointment, landing me in the reception area to wait for an opening in the schedule, where I met you, waiting like me after missing your appointment.

But like I said, I don’t believe in signs, although…no…no, I don’t believe in signs, but I get the feeling that you and I happened upon something here and if not for my crappy day up until this point, I might never have met you.

Lone Survivor – A Three Line Tale

The explosion and loss of pressure sent the plane into a terrifying spiral, tossing passengers like ragdolls against the cabin ceiling; thirty horrible seconds that seemed like hours, lights flashing, people screaming, the fuselage groaning, ending suddenly into dead, black silence.

Sarah roused to the smell of jet fuel, the glare of red flashing lights and the tinny sound of rescuers calling for survivors on bullhorns.

With her legs broken, she managed to stretch her hand into to the air, crying out, a faint whisper, “I’m here.”

Stoned-Oven Pizza

These days you can get pizzas with jalapeño peppers and taco sauce, BBQ chicken, cheeseburgers, pineapples, strawberries and apples, fish, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes on top!

But Louis was a purist; a second generation pizzeria owner who followed his grandmother’s original recipe, and it showed on Friday nights when the locals lined the block waiting hours for a slice of Mama Maria’s traditional pizza pie.

Some people believe tradition is an archaic chain to the past but Mama knew what she was doing when she insisted on strict adherence to the family recipe: dough rolled in cornmeal, brushed with olive oil, fresh tomato sauce, Italian sausage, mozzarella and a sprinkle of her secret herb blend…that smelled a bit like oregano!
