grass between my toes,
breeze softly tossing my hair,
wispy clouds, blue sky,
sometimes I need reminding
where I’m from and who I am

I almost forgot last night’s
storm, blinded by radiant
streams of sun bursting
from a breach of clustering,
cumulus billows, remnants
of a tempest not content
to blow over lightly, swelling
instead into her next fit
of fury…I almost forgot
how crazed you were,
even your smile cannot
span the breach between
us…not yet…maybe never.

(NaPoWriMo 2017 – Optional Prompt – “Write about different ways of looking at something.” I decided to tackle the challenge in on poem.)
Little Things
it’s the little things
forget the forest, I want to hug trees
it’s the little things
like collecting pebbles, now that’s my bling
or blowing white floaties setting them free
it doesn’t take much to entertain me
it’s the little things
