Essence #20

just one more minute’s snooze
or rise before dawn cues

~kat

And Essence for Day 20 of Jane Dougherty’s Daily Essence Poem Challenge. My internal clock is still rebelling against the daylight saving time change. This was the view of the window from my pillow when my alarm clock went off at 6 am. The days are not long enough yet. Or maybe I am getting too close to retirement to maintain the grind. Five more years and counting…unless the government decides to raise the retirement age…or take away social security benefits…or both. Until them I am a prisoner of the clock next to my bed and the time clock at the office. 😦 But when I am off the clock…oh…then I write! 🙂

Essence #19

blossoms burst snowy white
springtime’s first dazzling sight

Essence #19 for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Essence Poem Challenge. The medians on my way to work are lined in a sea of white blooms. I love the contrast of white on black branches…even if they make me sneeze!

Essence #18

an iron knight from space
seems odd, quite out of place

A bit of the bizarre for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Essence Poetry Challenge. This super-sized fellow stands guard at the rear of a local eclectic pizza eatery called ‘The Mellow Mushroom’. Just behind him are the dumpsters. One can’t be too careful when it comes to protecting rubbish! 😉

Essence #17

cat striped, sunlight streaming
a blissful sight, dreaming

Day 17’s Essence for Jane Dougherty’s Challenge. A bit late to the party but it took the late afternoon sun to capture the magic. Meet my fluffy grey, Sebastian. ❤️

Essence #16

crystalline, cool stillness
blue serene, sweet greenness

Day 16 for Jane Dougherty’s daily Essence poem challenge. After yesterday’s bluster, today is a beautiful day. Too bad I’m stuck at my desk. At least the view is nice! 😊 Happy Friday!
