‘twas just yesterday
the trees stood bare on the hills
buds burst overnight
and new life emerged, greening
sweet scent of flowers wafting
cool breezes moan soft
tossing fresh leaves as trees sway
on the cusp of dusk

Today is the first day of May. Beltane Blessings to those who celebrate! Also this week I witnessed the annual transformation of the trees from bare limbs to tender green. It’s miraculous actually. Just as I wait eagerly for the return of the hummingbirds, I look forward to waking up one morning to shade, the trees bursting with life. The first flowers, songbirds, the song of peepers along the creek bed as night falls. The world rousing from slumber in a symphony of new life. It’s my favorite thing about this time of year. And I feel so blessed to be here for one more spring.

Wonderful Beltane blessings to you. Only this morning, we again experienced the miracle of Spring. I walked down the back garden and counted 7 roses on a bush. Two minutes later, I walked back up and there were 9!
