on the forest floor lies the shell of an old tree stubbly roots exposed, its core now heartless, empty grist for grubs, in death humility

For NaPoWriMo 2021 - Day 3...Off topic, but I promise to work on my personal deck. It seems like a worthwhile project to inspire future poetry. For today...a Horatiodet (my own short version of the Horatian Ode...a Form i came up with when i was doing daily micropoetry.) A Horatiodet is a total of 5 lines, syllable count: 5-7-7-5-9 / rhyme scheme: ababb. In other words, it is a short Horatian Ode (only one stanza), a form based on the style of Horace, Quintus Horatius Flaccus (December 8, 65 BC – November 27, 8 BC), the leading Roman lyric poet.
Called Poetry 101 and 102. They had one of the Happiness Engineers monitoring the classes… I believe the response was SO much that they had to limit enrollment.
It was very cool… there was a “lesson” on poetry or photography, etc., then we would respond with our attempts at the genre… and participate IF we wanted to, no pressure, no rules.
I still have the Blogging 101 Class of 2015 site…however, it was private, limited to whoever was in the class (the response was so great they had to cut off enrollment.)
I think I’ll make a post about it. Now the “challenges” are popular. The good thing about the classes was that members could seek direct help from other members in blogging or whatever.
So it is easier for you to find all the parts/chapters of my ongoing fiction series, I created a new page that lists all the links. You can check it out HERE!

I do enjoy writing the short forms of poetry, but also longer forms, my special favorite is free-form.

I like to go for rythym and meter in the free form. Did you do the WP poetry class/es several years ago> That was so much fun!

I do remember that and participated shortly after joining WP. It was so helpful and you’re right the interaction with others was the best part!
