orderly implosion

orderly implosions

i can’t help myself, it’s an obsession, yes, i know
it’s compulsive, my behavior; sometimes I wonder why
i need perfection, order in my life for all to see
alphabetized, categorized, everything in perfect rows
cds, movies, books, the cupboard, artwork on the walls
pillows on the sofa, angled corners, set just so
it makes me feel safe when things around me are in place
but some would say it’s crazy, that it’s really all for show
especially when I know that I’m a mess, I can’t deny
i need perfection, order in my life for all to see
order, managed chaos softs the blow if I implode

Magic 11 poem – my variation on the Magic 9 poem, a 9-line poem that doesn’t have any rules as far as meter or subject matter–just a rhyme scheme: abacadaba. Enter the Magic 11 abracadabra poem with the r’s intact, placeholders for a refrain. Rhyme scheme: abRacadabRa. (R for the refrain).
