Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 28 July 2019

Two weeks of Reverse today. Last Sunday was spent on the road spanning several states after a magical visit with two of my dearest friends in the world. It had been 20 years since we were all three together in one place. Though hundreds of miles separate us our souls have remained connected all these years since first we recognized each other as kin. There is something so precious about that type of connection. It is mysterious and eternal.

I pay attention to every such encounter. There have been moments when I meet the gaze of a stranger and we each pause to take in that spark of instant recognition, remembering some distant subliminal memory. On occasion someone might even remark, “do I know you?”

And I will invariably reply, “no, I don’t think so…” while smiling to myself thinking, “yes, we know each other, from some other time, some other place, some other lifetime perhaps.” Sometimes as if reading my mind they will wink and nod before going on their way. I live for these magical, mystical encounters. Needless to say, I seem to have gotten around over the centuries. This sort of thing happens more times than I can recount. I tend to believe we come back here again and again. The evidence is hard to ignore.

And there is also this wonderful place, the internet. I can say, without a doubt that I “know” some of you too. You know who you are. ❤️ What a gift it is to be able to connect across continents in this way. I cherish each spark of kinship we share. It’s an honor to share space with you this time around…namasté…namasté.

Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 28 July 2019

clouds hang in the breezeless sky,
now about your soul…
to tremble from kindness
trusting to be fed, not trusting
what malevolence, what fear,
she waits at the door each morning and night
there seems to be no end of ugliness
but don’t let the words fool you
as if no time has passed at all, old friends
…sometimes…sometimes…the chores go undone
there’s never enough time, never enough
before dust settles, it lingers a spell,
things fall apart,
this place felt oddly familiar, terrifying, peaceful as she remembered she’d been here before.
after the storm comes cleansing cool breezes,
but truth is a whisper
i think of autumn on cool days like this
no words, mem’ries to keep
fluttering through the veil

A ReVerse poem is a summary poem with a single line lifted from each entry of a collection of work over a particular timeframe and re-penned in chronological order as a new poem. Unlike a collaborative poem, the ReVerse features the words of one writer, providing a glimpse into their thoughts over time. I use it as a review of the previous week.
