February Poem #7

..to climate change

say “global warming”
and clueless fools will proclaim,
it’s not real, it’s freezing…
your theory is lame
post disaster, they’re first to complain

February Poem #6

…to the remote control

oh what did we do,
once upon a time ago,
television, before you,
blared out of control,
always too loud, three channels to troll

February Poem #5

…to sleep
(no rest for the weary)

just one minute more
grumbling as you hit the snooze
places to be, things to do
get feet to the floor
if you’re not in front, on time, you lose

Anchored – Manic Mondays

anchored

there’s a fever
anchored to the
rhythm in your chest
a static sonnet
waiting for the night
dust to fire
reflected
in your eyes

Almanac
The Acorn

There’s a season in your eyes
and a fever on your breath
you’re anchored to the tide
and the rhythm in your chest
I read the rings and count the city lights
you sing a static sonnet on the dial
you could talk a walk, through the mines
or you could spend all your days
just waiting for the night
the stones that skip, the dust that turns to fire
I see it all reflected in your eyes

February Poem #4

…to coffee…or tea

morning libation
scalded brew of beans and leaves
cream and sugar, if you please
steeped stimulation,
motivation on this day to seize
