when leaders act like 5-year-olds
demanding what they want and when
there is no reasoning with them
they’ll huff and puff until you fold
demanding what they want and when
when leaders act like 5-year-olds

I hear there is going to be a national address this evening by our toddler in chief. He plans to lay out a string of gross exaggerations and lies to try to convince the majority of Americans to embrace his pet project, The Great Trump Southern Border Wall that Mexico will definitely pay for, but just in case they don’t, we’ll need tax payers hard earned cash to float it so trump can make his dwindling throng of supporters (most would assume who live life a few eggs short a dozen) happy and make good on his campaign mantra. Facts are not important of course. Only that trump gets what he wants. In the meantime, he is holding hundreds of thousands of government workers hostage. There are families…children in cages along our southern border living in horrible, sometimes deadly conditions. I’ll not be watching his speech tonight. It’s a total waste of my time. But I will be thinking about all the people who are suffering because of this horrible man’s actions. I’m sorry for them all. We need to do better.

wounded hearts take time to heal
some try to kill the pain with pills
toss one back, chase it with a swill
then morning comes to keep it real
some try to kill the pain with pills
wounded hearts take time to heal

when seeking silence, space to think
I notice sounds that I’ve ignored
and background din becomes a roar
clocks ticking, dripping kitchen sink
I notice sounds that I’ve ignored
when seeking silence, space to think

a pair of buzzards haunt the sky
to spy a lifeless mark below
somewhere near, death has claimed a soul
on wind and wing these reapers fly
to spy a lifeless mark below
a pair of buzzards haunt the sky

true patience is a virtue learned
as seasons go and come and go
life to death to life things flow
when endings take a lively turn
as seasons go and come and go
true patience is a virtue learned
