Unfriended

unfriended

I admit that I am
stunned at how easily
you can commit cyber
homicide, annihilating
me, rendering me invisible
with a simple stroke,
unfriended,
deleted from existence,
blocked…
out of sight,
but hardly out
of mind you know…
the bitter truth behind
these cyber battles we
employ, caps-lock
loaded, raging red, souls
sucked deep into the
grid is that it is not
reality really…
but try convincing
my broken heart that
our painful têxt-à-têxt
doesn’t mean anything
as I wait for you to call…

Cheer & Call – Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge

ronovanwrites

RonovanWrites has given us another Haiku challenge that is challenging!  The Prompt words are Cheer and Call. As always I CHEERfully answered the CALL, twittering around with a few scenarios…happily coming up with a trio of possibilities. Happy Monday fellow WordPressers! If you’d like to play along or read a few other takes on this challenge, click HERE!

“Just cheer up,” they say
when misfortune comes to call
it’s okay to grieve.

“Out!” the umpire called
‘midst the din of rousing cheers!
the crowd came to life!

It is not my call
to cheer you when you’re saddened.
but I can listen.

a trilogy of septs

A new challenge and poetry style called a “sept”. Seven lines long with the following syllable structure: 1-2-3-4-3-2-1. I decided to give it a go. Thanks to
Jane Dougherty Writes for this new challenge!

Today’s theme: Hands

See more septs HERE. 🙂

Hands
Extend
Hearts exposed
Displaying trust…
But betrayed
Become
Fists

Hands
Are quite
Versatile
Appendages
Fulfilling
Hopes and
Dreams

Hands
Caress
Skin to skin
Connecting us
Separate
Once, now
One.

Sunday’s Week in Review 18 October 2015

Late night, or rather, early morning post…
What an interesting week! As usual the compilation of a line from each post waxes a bit poetic in a quirky sort of way. It reads like a snapshot to me. In fact when I read it I thought, “This is so me!” At least for this week. And about that word quirky…I’m curious now..must look up its origin. Whoever thought of it…I think I like them! 🙂

grief consoled by Pines.
how can you miss someone you’ve never met?
It suits me, don’t you think?
I don’t know how I got here.
All things are worthy
Maybe that is the point.
She’s a late bloomer
A rogue or scoundrel
Whoever thinks reptiles don’t snuggle has never had a tortoise whisper sweet nothings in their ear.
