A limerick in response to MindLifeMatters Limerick Challenge…the prompt this week is “Breeze”. To read more click HERE.

When Autumn frost nips the trees
leaves catch a lift on the breeze
they blush gold and red
and tumble to bed
in time for some wintry zzzz’s.

“Are you sure this is the right size? I was thinking it would be more like a garden hose…”

“Yep, I’m positive. This is what the guy at the hardware store told me to use for this fountain.”

“Well, if he said so.  Have you got it all hooked up?”

“Yep. It’s all set. All we need to do is turn it on.”

As this intrepid DIY-duo fired up the fountain, it hummed, then rumbled with a gurgle and a sputtering, spit, spit, spit…drip.

“Um… Maybe we need a second opinion?”

“From the hardware store guy?”

“ No…from a urologist!”

Crepuscular – A Friday Word of the Day Haiku

From Dictionary.com

From Dictionary.com

Tis another Friday Word of the Day Haiku! Today’s Word is “Crepuscular”. According to Dictionary.com, this delicious word is related to the Latin term “creper” meaning obscure or dark (the Oxford Dictionary relates its Latin meaning to “twilight”). It entered the English language in the mid-1600’s.

I personally love this time of day…the dusk before nightfall. How delightful to have a new word to describe it. It naturally calls one to settle in for the evening…perhaps I shall this evening…tuck into a “crepuscular” nook with a good book!

Seasons

In the beginning
Seed pods burst from Gaia’s heart
Springing forth in song.

Then
Summer
Kissed each bud
swelling in bloom
As fragrant
Petals
Fell…

On beds draped in mist
Cool Autumn’s nip then rendered
Back to Gaia’s breast
A host of slumbering seedlings
Under blankets Winter white.
