fear not death…Monday Musing

fear not death

I have loved
magic, hours
that die
like a breath…
fear not death
with delight
feast on beauty
shed a tear

~kat

A Found/Blackout Poem inspired by this lovely poem by Robert Bridges at 100.Best-Poems.net.

I have loved flowers that fade

I have loved flowers that fade,
Within whose magic tents
Rich hues have marriage made
With sweet unmemoried scents:
A honeymoon delight,
A joy of love at sight,
That ages in an hour
My song be like a flower!.
I have loved airs that die
Before their charm is writ
Along a liquid sky
Trembling to welcome it.
Notes, that with pulse of fire
Proclaim the spirit’s desire,
Then die, and are nowhere
My song be like an air!
Die, song, die like a breath,
And wither as a bloom;
Fear not a flowery death,
Dread not an airy tomb!
Fly with delight, fly hence!
‘Twas thine love’s tender sense
To feast; now on thy bier
Beauty shall shed a tear.

March Pi-Archimedes #25

pay no mind

it’s not the
bellowing
of vain bloviators that
we
should be paying attention to
in the din is truth they’re trying to hide

the muse

the muse

she is like a penny, face up, begging
to be lifted from the asphalt, treasure
promised if I dare give her a moment’s
thought, a hint of blush dusts her cheeks,
eyes, dark, translucent blue, cerulean really,
that pierce my soul, first glance, drawing
me deeper… she likes shadowy places,
nooks, crannies, pre-dawn and gloaming,
alcoves and hollows, her scent is musk, with
undertones of moss, earth and ink waiting for the
quill’s long, lingering dip, pale skin like velvet,
cool to the touch, covered in baby fine hair that
glistens in the light, her hair, fiery red, long,
wavy, cascading softly past her shoulders…
she is not the life of the party, but her words,
softly spoken, draw select clusters of seekers, like
me, who have grown to appreciate her wisdom
and honesty…fools vex  her…she has been known
to slay them with a single line, but mostly
she ignores them, pearls and swine, you know,
for those of us who are privileged to call
her friend, to see the world through her
eyes is like peeking through a forbidden
keyhole, Valhalla waiting on the other side

March Pi-Archimedes #24

what now?

can we know
truth
midst a sea of
lies
there is no great hero
to save those intoxicated by power and gas light

Have you heard?

The Mueller investigation is over with no additional indictments proposed…but were reminded that there are over a dozen investigations focused on Trump and his cohorts continuing in its wake…
Brexit got an extension…for better or worse…TBC…
Trump is becoming unhinged as evidenced by a flurry of incoherent tweets and rambling rally diatribes…becoming?
The FAA finally grounded Boeing’s flawed max planes…finally
The world grieves with the Christchurch community, the latest victims of extreme hate…
Casualties mount in the wake of a deadly cyclone in Africa…
The doomsday clock is hovering at 2 minutes to midnight…

The world is in chaos. So, what else is new? Ultimately how we react to adversity determines how we will fare going forward. And it reveals our character or lack thereof. So hang in there. As the good witch Glinda told Dorothy, “You had the power all along, my dear.” Congress, I hope you’re listening.

Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 24 March 2019

Happy Spring to my friends in the northern hemisphere. This week’s full worm moon coincided with 2019’s vernal equinox setting into motion the onset of spring. The signs are everywhere. Daffodils dapple the landscape, birds are rustling, engaged in sweet song, squirrels are rummaging the dry earth for seeds. Winter has made a few brisk sweeps through bare bud-clustered tree limbs, but at long last, her days are numbered. The seasons are faithful, changing guard, again and again. At least for today while the sun is shining, there is every reason for hope. And hope I do. When doubt niggles its way into my thoughts I have spring’s sweet awakening to set me aright. Seasons. Life is a series of seasons, coming and going, ebbing and flowing. We cannot stop the tides, and honestly, why would we ever want to.

Have a lovely week. Spring is coming…spring is here!

Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 24 March 2019

there are signs
they’re back again
lovers sighing,
you might not believe it,
fragile blossoms
north meets south, daylight
bird trills and honey bee hums
life
vernal blooms wafting on air
of plenty, one cannot quench the urge to fill
everyday i learn something new and have more questions
to hear the birds singing

A ReVerse poem is a summary poem with a single line lifted from each entry of a collection of work over a particular timeframe and re-penned in chronological order as a new poem. Unlike a collaborative poem, the ReVerse features the words of one writer, providing a glimpse into their thoughts over time. I use it as a review of the previous week.
