So…with talk of Spring and warmer temperatures my mind is drifting from my cold, damp neighborhood to memories of Hatteras Island and the Rodanthe Pier…and the BEACH! A favorite vacation spot! It won’t happen this year…but a girl can dream! 🙂

Thanks Mandi. The beach I do have to drive several hours to get to, but I always have the mountains! 🙂

It is one of the few beach vacation spots that is relatively un-commercialized. Except for a few mom & pop type restaurants and simple souvenir stores…and little grocery stores with the basics, there is nothing but surf and sand, and very affordable and beautiful rental homes to accommodate you. 🙂

[…] Kat’s lovely and scenic vacation spot of Hatteras Island is totally energizing. Even a non-poet will be able to wax some lyrics about these skies. […]

That’s a long pier – do people use it? The only piers we have on our coast are in the larger seaside towns: Hunstanton, Cromer and Great Yarmouth. Aren’t sand dunes wonderful?!

Hi Kim. Yes, people actually do use it! In fact, the farthest end had been damaged by a hurricane and was being repaired and there were still a few fisherman who scaled the makeshift bridge to get to to very edge! It’s along the Atlantic coastline on Hatteras Island. I do love the dunes, as you suggest! 😊
